The Supernatural Man – Part iv -The Most High God –

The Supernatural Man

Part iv

The Most High God

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. (Genesis 14:18)

And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. (Mark5:7)

He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. (Daniel 3:25) Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. (Daniel 3:26)

The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. (Psalm 110:4)

For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; (Hebrews 7:1) To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; (Hebrews 7:2) Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. (Hebrews 7:3)

The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. (Psalm 14:2)

By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. (Psalm 33:6) He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. (Psalm 33:7) Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. (Psalm 33:8) For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. (Psalm 33:9)

In these seven Scripture sections we have seven wonderful revealings, and all seven revealings are in a world of darkness. It is the light of the world, Jesus Christ, who has (by divine instrument) revealed these truths to us. Every one of these texts’ points to the Son of God in His eternal state, and with His dealings with man on earth.

The Mystery Realm: BEFORE

Let’s go back before the foundation of the earth. Do we dare meet with God in this realm of the mystery of the unknown? As we walk through the door of eternity, led by the Spirit of God, what will we behold? In the word ‘before,’ before what? then before that, then before before, sorry, I just had to do that to show our limitations. And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: (Hebrews 1:10) In the beginning the Lord Jesus laid the foundation of the earth.

The Supernatural Man: The Master Builder

We rarely see Him as the Master Builder, and yet, He created and built a wonder before our eyes, and through our own surroundings we see the everlasting hands of the Creator. Although the majority of the world know Him only as the carpenter’s son, those who have been bought with His blood see Him as the Divine Creator of all things, both seen and unseen. Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. (Psalm 102:25) The Spirit of God confirms in the Old Testament that the Lord created all things. For all things were created by Jesus Christ, and for Him, and for His pleasure. (Revelation 4:11)

The Supernatural Man: His Sanctuary and Throne

In verse 19 of Psalm 102, we have an eye opener for the spiritual heart and soul. For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth. It is the Lord, the Creator of all things, who looked down out of His heavenly sanctuary. In this scene in His sanctuary, we are allowed to see with spiritual eyes The Temple of God, the heavenly economy, the Creator of all things, and He who is, the High Priest, after the order of Melchisedec, looking down upon the children of men. A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary. (Jeremiah 17:12) This is the Throne of Eternity. This is the throne from the beginning, before there was a beginning, and before God created the heaven and the earth. In the beginning, in eternity, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and was God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1) The same was in the beginning with God. (John 1:2) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3) In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (John 1:4)

He was in the world, and the world knew Him not. At the time of His incarnation, we have no statement like that of Abraham, for Abraham proclaimed in the face of evil (in the face of the king of Sodom) that he (Abraham) had lifted up his hand to the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth. The apostle John would write in his first epistles that which was from the beginning . . . . .

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;(1 John 1:1) (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) (1 John 1:2) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. (1 John 1:3) And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. (1 John 1:4)

All these testimonies of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, are true. Man has experienced His presence on earth, both Old and New Testament, even to our present day in the hearts and souls of the children of God. In the manifestation of Himself, (through the history of man) He has revealed Himself in bodily form, and at times, a voice of the Spirit of Christ. Man has a Savior of men in heaven, and on His throne.

After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. (Revelation 4:1) And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. (Revelation 4:2) And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. (Revelation 4:3) And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. (Revelation 4:4)

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. (Revelation 4:11)

Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. (1 Peter 1:11) *

Our Master Builder presents to us what He has laid in store for us in heaven’s glory. There is no way that man in his natural state could have looked through that open door and be caught up to God to see these glories of the Person of God, and relate to us the majesty, the power, and the dominion of this Eternal Being who calls Himself, GOD.

The Supernatural Man: Always in The Now

In our world today, men like to say that they live in the now, there is a certain truth to this phenomenon, for we cannot live again in our past, nor can we experience the future; each second is the now. This is where we live, and at the same time, or second, we have a Man in heaven for us, a Savior, Christ the Lord, the God of glory. He lives with the children of God, each second with us, wherever we go, whatever we do, He has a presence with every child of God from His sanctuary, and He beholds us from His throne. It is from His sanctuary and from His throne that He directs us; we are connected to Him, and to His throne by the crimson river of His blood. This is why all heaven exalts Him, for they see in this One, not only the Redeemer, but the absolute beauty of Holiness.

So, what does this have to do with Melchizedek, the Son of God, in Genesis Chapter 14? The Spirit of God presents to us in Genesis 14 the nations of the world, not only in the land, but from the land of Mesopotamia. We see these nations stirring against one another, as a roaring sea against the shore. We see in the representatives in these nine kings, the totality of man’s evil heart in unity. We have both the heart of Cain and the heart of Lamech (the 7th from Adam, and the 6th from Cain) all bound up in these four kings of Mesopotamia, against the five kings of the well-watered plains of Jordan. Wait, please clarify, what does Cain and Lamech have to do with these kings? After all, did not all the descendants of Cain perish in the flood? Yes, but not only did all the descendants of Cain die, but also all the descendants of Adam and Eve perished in the flood except for 8 individuals; Noah, Noah’s wife, Shem, Ham, and Japheth (Noah’s three sons) and their three wives. In the genealogy of Ham, Shem, and Japheth what does God show us, and what don’t we see? All three sons of Noah turned away from God to serve man, and his idols in the city of Babel. (Chapter 11 of Genesis) We also see the unifier of man in Genesis, Chapter 10, verses 6 -10.

And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. (Genesis 10:6)

And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan. (Genesis 10:7)

And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. (Genesis 10:8)

He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. (Genesis 10:9)

And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. (Genesis 10:10)

In Genesis, Chapter 10, we are introduced to the dominant brilliant figure in earth’s history after the flood: Nimrod. This organizer of men was the principal dominant figure from one of the descendants of Noah: Ham. Nimrod sprang from the loins of Ham. Remember that there was a curse placed on Him in Chapter 9, verses 24 -27.

And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.(Genesis 9:24)

And he said, Cursed be Canaan (a son of Ham) ; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. (Genesis 9:25)

And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. (Genesis 9:26)

God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. (Genesis 9:27)

A servant, Nimrod was not. The meaning of his name discloses his being, Nimrod means ‘we will rebel.’ He is the full display of rebellion against God. He dominated everything that was around him. He established man’s religion, and most probably was the author and perfecter of the one language that unified man against God. He was instrumental in building a cult religion in the land of Shinar, and the capitol of this wicked land was the city of Babel. It was Nimrod who established the doctrine of unification of the world, which man still clings to and works towards to this very day. We see it all around us in different nations, man holding hands with man, singing, We are the children of the world. In Nimrod, this unification was in opposition to the word given by God, and the division of the sons of Noah was to keep man from uniting in opposition against the Almighty God. Yet, they (under Nimrod) rebelled against the very word of God.

In the other hosts of evil in Genesis 14, God introduces us to the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto the king of Lasha. These are the five cities of Ham in the land of Canaan.

And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha. (Genesis 10:19) These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations. (Genesis 10:20)

In the four kings of Mesopotamia, and the five kings of the five cities of the plains, we find conflict of evil against evil. Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. (Psalm 34:21) This is the same syndrome of dominance and control over others that was first seen in Cain wanting to have power and authority over the actions of his brother Abel in Abel’s faithfulness and obedience to God. And in the end, Cain’s hatred for God drove Cain to murder his brother; consequently, this same hatred is visible in the hearts of man today.

These five kings in Genesis 14 had been in servitude thirteen (13) years to the four (4) kings from Mesopotamia. Man demanded the servitude of others yet would not yield himself in subjection to God. Man had become his own slave master and delighted in the slavery of other men.

In Mesopotamia, the seat of idolatry, the desire to control the spirit, and soul of men was rekindled. In the evils of Sodom, we have the moral bankruptcy of the flesh, and man’s control and dominion over that flesh to perform all forms of evil through the lust of the flesh. Twelve years these morally and spiritually bankrupt kings served the four morally and spiritually bankrupt kings of Mesopotamia, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. In the fourteenth year, the number of our chapter (Genesis 14) they (the 5 kings of the plains) broke the chains of their bondage and enslavement from the four kings of Mesopotamia. Interesting note: the number 13 is first mentioned in Scripture connected with rebellion. Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. (Genesis 14:4) Also, a point to notice: you will not find the number 13 or thirteenth in the New Testament.

All these elements (conditions) that we see in these nine kings are elements of the corruption of the heart, soul, spirit, and body of mankind. When the four kings came from the land of Shinar, they not only enslaved the people of the plains, but they also brought with them the corruption of Shinar. We have two evil elements from the same line of Ham, and these elements would follow the descendants of Ham throughout his entire world history. Yes, to the very now! From the land of Shinar (Iraq, the Tigris-Euphrates River valley) we have the idolatry and the false religion of the world. We have the rebellion of man against God, from Nimrod, and into the land of Canaan (in the well-watered plains of Jordan); we have the lasciviousness of the flesh in dominion over men. Both of these civilizations (Mesopotamia, and Canaan) were in slavery to their own sin: idolatry is rebellion and sin against God; the sins of the flesh are not only in rebellion against God, but rebellion against the creation that God had made in His own image: the image of man.

Although there were five cities in the plains of Jordan (Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboim, Lasha) the Holy Spirit of God records just two principal leaders: the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah. Both of these personalities would reveal moral bankruptcy throughout the history and societies of mankind. In our current age, we have the same combination of evil in idolatry, and moral failure around us. It is the Spirit of God who unveils to us the world around us. He is the One (through the word of God) who sets the definition, and the responsibility to discern good and evil. Whole nations have become moral sewers and slime pits to those who lead them. This is man’s quest: not only to be as God, but to be above God. Man, in the place of God, wants to rule over his neighbor: this was the Nimrod syndrome, and it was in the full spirit of Cain and Lamech. And yes, both Cain and Lamech were idolaters, and they both were empty of all moral thought and actions, for they were both murderers, and children of their father, the devil.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. (1st John 3:9)

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (1st John 3:10)

For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. (1st John 3:11)

Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous. (1st John 3:12)

Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. (1st John 3:13)

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. (1st John 3:15)

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. (1st John 3:16)

The Spirit of God confirms that the spirit of Cain came through the flood; for John in his epistle reveals that the spirit of Cain is in the world today. Cain’s spirit had to come through the flood somewhere in the hearts and thoughts of the one or more of the descendants of Noah, or one or more of the wives of the three sons of Noah. The Holy Spirit through the word of God revealed the thread of evil was tied to the curse rendered to Ham through his sons, and onward to Ham’s grandson, and Noah’s great grandson: the rebel Nimrod. The same spirit of Cain, that was before the flood, now passes on to Nimrod with a tenacious defiance against God.

Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, (Genesis 10:11)

In Genesis, Chapter 14, the Holy Spirit wants us to see the complete corruption of mankind that has denied the Person of God. (Click to read Genesis, Chapter 14) They are of their father the devil. This is their cry, There is no God. The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God, (Psalm 53:1) All the way to the day of the Lord Jesus Christ, not only in the day of John’s epistle, but in the fullness of time in the Gospel of John, the Lord cried out against Cain, and against the spirit of Cain in John, Chapter 8, verses 33 – 44.

They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? (John 8:33) (This statement showed their delusion: they had been slaves under Pharaoh in Egypt, Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon, Darius the Mede, Cyrus the Persian, and now they served Caesar of Rome).

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. (John 8:34)

And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. (John 8:35)

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. (John 8:36)

I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. (John 8:37)

I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. (John 8:38)

They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. (John 8:39)

But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. (John 8:40)

Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. (John 8:41)

Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. (John 8:42)

Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. (John 8:43)

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44)

The Lord Jesus exposed the Pharisees, and the rulers of the Jews as being the children and slaves of the devil; that within them was the spirit of Cain, and not the Spirit of God. They had no conception that they had become slaves to sin, and in bondage to the corruption of their ungodly religious and political system. In our age, Paul wrote in Galatians, Chapter 4, that the heart of man has not changed, and that he who is of the flesh wars against those who are of the Spirit of God. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. (Galatians 4:28) But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. (Galatians 4:29)

The Supernatural Man Through Time as The Most High God

Abraham understood his position before the most high God. He understood his calling, and what the most high God had promised him. It was the promises and his call that persuaded him in his heart to go out against the tremendous evil of the four kings. When we look around, in this present evil world, let us not faint for the most high God has made to us promises that He will keep. We need to understand our proper position with God. This is what is lacking in the professing church today. They have no idea of who they are before God; in many cases, they have no idea, nor understanding of the Person of God. They have been taught a language of profession by Nimrod, the rebel. They have been taught to love (a false love) at the cost of truth. They have been duped by the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah. In many ways, they (the professing churchites) are morally bankrupt themselves. They pervert the doctrine of grace as a license to sin. Read 1 Corinthians, Paul did not condone their sin, and would not condone sin in the church today. Nimrod was the usurper of God’s authority, as were the Nicolaitans in the early church. These church leaders sacrificed truth for position, so that they could be the Nimrods over the church and usurped the authority of God over the people of God. Abraham understood the full depth of this title that belongs to God alone, the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth. <<A Psalm of David.>> The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. (Psalm 24:1) For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. (Psalm 24:2)

Abraham understood his position before the Almighty God, and he also understood God’s position over heaven and earth. His title (the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth) is not only mentioned with Abraham, but we see it in direct reference to the Person of the Son of God in the Scripture sequence in the Gospel of Mark, Chapter 5, verse 2, 5, 6, and 7.

And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, (Mark 5:2)

And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. (Mark 5:5) But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, (Mark 5:6) And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. (Mark 5:7)

In Mark’s gospel we see the title: the most high God given to the Son of God. The remarkable thing here is this: this statement was not attributed to Abraham, nor to the men of the world, but the unclean spirits of Satan used this title in Mark’s Gospel. What man could not identify, the unclean spirits proclaimed, that this was the Son of the most high God. The devils identified Him before all of the men who gathered around, the men were ignorant of who He was, and the devils not only recognized Him, but worshiped Him, and volunteered to be put in subjection by Him. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. (Mark 6:12) They identified Him (the son of man) and as the son of the most high God, they worshiped Him. The Spirit of God wants us to realize that this worship came before the devils were cast out of this possessed man. This shows the Son of God’s complete control over the unclean spirits of this world; as well as keeping the angels who rebelled in chains, He is able to subdue the evil spirits of this world. The devils recognized Him and recognized His authority over them.

The first five Chapters of Mark’s gospel are filled with the miracles of Christ in all the realms of man and creation, He performed miracles to the amazement of the crowds and to individuals. In the miracles recorded in Chapter 6, we have another recognition, after all the miracles that the Lord had executed for the nation of Israel, man could not see, and refused to see because the evil in his heart blinded his spiritual eyes. The demons could not restrict, nor hinder the work of God, yet man in Chapter 6 hindered the work of God through unbelief. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. (Mark 6:4) And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them, (Mark 6:5) Because of their unbelief they hindered the work of God, and could not identify the One who was performing these miracles as the most high God. In verse 3, they could only see a carpenter’s son, Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. (Mark 6:3)

Up to this point in time in His ministry in the Gospel of Mark He seemed to have no limitation upon the miracles that He performed. The demons couldn’t stop Him, the devil in Matthew 4 couldn’t stop Him, but the unbelief in the heart of man hindered His work, and He had to depart from them. The promised prophet that was greater than Moses was not received. Moses said, The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; (Deuteronomy 18:15) The Son of God, who performed miracles, was not welcomed in their coasts. The light of the world who had come into darkness, the darkness would not receive. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.

The Supernatural Man in Genesis, Chapter 14

In Genesis, Chapter 14, the world is at war; two opposing evil forces were trying to destroy each other. How and why did Abraham get involved in this conflict? His nephew Lot had gone down into Sodom and had become one of the captives that the four kings carried away. There was only one qualification that stirred the heart of God, and that was that Lot had believed in the righteousness by faith which comes from God.

And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; (2 Peter 2:6)

And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (2 Peter 2:7)

(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) (2 Peter 2:8)

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:. (2 Peter 2:9)

Even though Lot had vexed his righteous soul by the wickedness that he beheld in the city of Sodom, there was a power that would not let this righteous man become enslaved, so God, stirred up the heart of Abraham to deliver Lot out of the hand of the adversaries, the four kings. It was God who would not let Abraham forget his nephew, or deeper yet, a brother.

Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! (Isaiah 17:12) The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. (Isaiah 17:13) And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us. (Isaiah 17:14)

Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. (Isaiah 1:9) Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. (Isaiah 1:10)

The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. (Isaiah 57:1)

Remember God’s ways are not our ways. (Isaiah 55) It is the Lord who is over the circle of the earth, it is the most high God who says, Come, and they come, or says, Go, and they go.

Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? (Isaiah 40:21) It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: (Isaiah 40:22)

It is the most high God who is the ruler of man, and man’s kingdom. In the darkness of night, God quickened the heart of Abraham. The battle now is not evil against evil, but the goodness of God against the wickedness of the evil heart of man. It is God (in a divine way) who empowers the servants of Abraham to overthrow this large army out of Mesopotamia from the land of Shinar. In a divine way God used a small host to defeat a mighty and large host; this occurred long before Gideon, and David. Abraham was made a mighty warrior because he was a vessel in the hand of God. As we attest of Gideon, we could also say the same of Abraham, The sword of the Lord and Abraham. Only 318 men, what is this against so many, and they pursued them all the way to Dan. And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. (Genesis 14:14)

Side Note: these were trained men; Abraham was not a passivist. He understood the need to prepare and to train men (trained servants) loyal to him (born in his own house) to protect and to service. Also, notice the location in Scripture of this battle preparation scene, Genesis 14:14 (7+7 and 7+7) (7 four times, God’s complete power and authority over the evil of the world as seen in the number 4). ♦ End of Side Note.

Abraham and his battle trained men pursued them by night, we have a supernatural battle, men only see the temporal, but God is moving in the silence of night to destroy Abraham’s enemies. The Spirit of God wants us to see the confidence that Abraham already had in the God of glory, the One who had called him out of the land of Mesopotamia. Abraham took his men and rushed into the night (or darkness) fighting the enemy, and pursued them all the way to Dan, to the northern border. One sees the picture of the spoils being scattered for many miles, as the four kings fled from the roar and thundering pursuit of the 318 men trained for war in Abraham’s house. Was this not a supernatural battle by our supernatural Man, the Lord Jesus Christ? All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity. (Isaiah 40:17) In this battle against the 4 kings, Abraham received a glorious revelation of the God of glory who called him out of Mesopotamia. He went forth in the power of God, and he would not be denied. In his being was the love that he had for his brother, and Abraham followed his convictions that God is a righteous God, and that it is God who rules in the kingdoms of men.

The Supernatural Man: The Priest of the Most High God Meets Abraham

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. (Genesis 14:18)

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: (Genesis 14:19)

And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. (Genesis 14:20)

And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. (Genesis 14:21)

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, (Genesis 14:22)

That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich: (Genesis 14:23)

From these verses Abraham is testifying on what he learned about the God that he serves; consequently, he related what he had learned to the wicked world of the king of Sodom. That it is the most high God who gave the victory, and it is the most high God who Abraham serves. He will not take a shoe, nor a shoe latchet from the world, lest they say that they have made Abraham rich. This would be a good lesson for us today to learn that nothing good comes out of an evil world. We need to watch what we use of this world that it does not detract from the Person of our Almighty God. Everything we have must come from His hand, so that the world cannot say that they have made Abraham rich.

Later through the Scriptures in the Age of the Kings we have the battle of Asa against the Ethiopians. Asa had approximately 500,000 men, however, the enemy (the Ethiopians) had over 1,000,000; Asa cried unto the Lord and the Lord defeated the enemy so that there were none left.

And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. (2 Chronicles 14:11) So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled. (2 Chronicles 14:12)

Asa understood that the battle was not his, but the Lord’s. In the reign of his son, king Jehoshaphat had a different experience. The Lord told him (through a prophet) to stand still and see their salvation. The children of Edom, and the children of Ammon had gathered together to overthrow the kingdom of Jehoshaphat. The Lord took the enemies’ sword and turned it against themselves. Their entire army laid on the ground: their dead bodies filled the valley. And Jehoshaphat’s army did not shoot one arrow, nor draw one sword. God used the evil in the heart of their enemy to destroy themselves; thus, Jehoshaphat was triumphant in his faith to God.

For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. (2 Chronicles 20:23)

And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped. (2 Chronicles 20:24)

This divine action took place in the days of Jehoshaphat (to find out more, we have the study of the Kings). In this defeat God used evil against evil. We see a principle of God working behind the scenes in the unseen world. When we consider the times that God manifested Himself on earth, we come short in understanding the manifestation of God’s power in the unseen world. He can destroy evil, not by the power of man, nor by His appearance, but by the power and the glory of the Holy Spirit of God. When God finds a man of faith, He uses that faith against evil. That faith stands for the truth of God. There is no faith given that promotes lies, there is no faith given of God that detracts from the Person of God. Faith is given so that the beholder will exalt, magnify, and worship the Almighty God, (I add, and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ). Abraham believed God and executed his faith in God against the evil that had taken Lot captive. Abraham’s faith was counted unto him for righteousness, and the victory of Abraham over the kings was the victory of faith in the Almighty God.

Melchizedek is introduced to us as the priest of the most high God, and as the visible priestly representation of the most high God, He is the possessor of heaven and earth.

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. (Genesis 14:18) And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: (Genesis 14:19)

The Supernatural Man: God’s Divine Priest, and Divine King

In the process of divine revelation in the Holy Scriptures, this is the first revelation of priesthood, however, it is not the priesthood of man, but the Divine Priesthood of the Son of God revealed to man. Once again, it is the Son of God revealing Himself to Abraham. This is a new light for us, as the Son of God is presented as Priest, and King of peace.

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, (Revelation 1:5)

And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25)

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. (Isaiah 40:25)

For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; (Hebrews 7:1) To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; (Hebrews 7:2)

We are blessed that God allows us to see  Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. (1 Peter 1:11) the curtain of eternity opened and the Divine Creator steps through to reveal Himself to man in the role of Priest and King, as Melchisedec, in possessing His creation. When we think of the tangible creation, we also have to acknowledge the unseen creation, and in both there is a spiritual link to a divine Creator which as Scripture proves is that Jesus Christ is the Creator of all things. It is this One who sits on the circle of the earth. (Isaiah 40:22) He not only created all things with great power, but He upholds all things with the same impregnable power that He, as God, possesses. He revealed Himself after the battle. Faith is always rewarded after it’s fulfillment in the divine will of God. So now, Melchisedec comes forth, He reveals Himself in the priestly office of heaven above. This is His divine service and ministry as The Priest to His faithful servant, Abraham. This is not a place of victory, but a place of remembrance. He came as King of Salem, this One, the divine King came through the curtain of eternity to defeat four kings of Mesopotamia.

In the determinate counsels of God, God promised Abraham a land, and that He would uphold His servant in that land. So, God honored His promise to Abraham by defeating the evil from the land of Shinar. In this 14th Chapter of Genesis, the Son of God reveals Himself in the form of a man and reveals Himself in His Spirit in the destruction of the four kings. He also is called ‘King of peace,’ He presents Himself not only as a Priest, but also as a King. Under the law, in the world of man, this would not be allowed. For when Uzziah tried to be both king and priest, he was smitten with leprosy, and was placed under divine judgment. Here with Melchisedec, we see the only divine Man, the only divine King, the only divine Priest, and in these three, the peace of God is found. The Lord Jesus told His disciples, I give you peace. And the peace that Melchisedec brought to Abraham was not temporal peace; therefore, we have the bread and wine unveiled to us. This was not just fellowship, but a place of deep communion with God. God examines the mind of Abraham, the heart of Abraham, the spirit and soul of Abraham. This is a place that God relates to the things concerning His work, and His divine purpose. (Connect 1 Peter 1:11 with this last sentence). With the bread and the wine, we see the revelation of the future in the upper room, when the Lord revealed to His disciples that the bread was a symbol of His body that would be broken for them, and the wine — a symbol of His blood. And this was projected before He went to the cross, in fact, we believe that it was projected to Abraham when He met Abraham after the slaughter of the kings. Therefore, the Lord in His day proclaimed, Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. (John 8:56) Abraham was given a window into the future in the fullness of time. Abraham’s victory was God’s victory over evil. As God the Son won the victory on the cross, He overcome the adversary, the devil, the prince of this world, and the prince of darkness, the instigator of evil empires. It was Christ in the unseen world who defeated all the works of the devil, both past, present, and future. In studying the character of Melchisedec we see the character of Christ, the Son of God. As we pass through Scripture, Melchisedec is revealed in Psalm 110 as the Lord of all, the King eternal, and the Creator of all things. In Hebrews, Chapters 5, 6 and 7, the figure of our Lord’s divine priesthood grows larger and larger until we see the fulfillment of this great high priest being made higher than the heavens.

There are many first mentions in Scripture, in the very beginning of Genesis, the Lord Jesus said, Let there be light. This was not the natural light of the sun, but the light of God to drive out darkness. The Lord Jesus confirms this in the Gospel of John, Chapter 8, when He declared in His Person that He is the Light of the world. The law of first mention is fulfilled in that statement, for Christ is truly the Light of the world. When God first mentions a subject, there is usually a divine application to heaven above, and when it comes to a personality, it usually relates to the divine Creator. In Melchisedec we see this law of first mention. This is a divine window into eternity so that we can see the pre-existence of the Divine Priesthood that was given by oath to the Son of God before the world was. Attached to that priesthood is the King of peace, and the descriptive name that God bestowed upon His Son is Melchisedec. He is seen by Joshua, as the captain of the LORD’S host, as He is seen by Gideon as the ‘angel of the Lord,’ as He is seen by Nebuchadnezzar as ‘the son of God.’

In Melchisedec we have the representation of the Divine Creator, for He is the possessor of both heaven and earth. After this divine battle mere man could not bless Abraham, the king of Sodom surely did not bless Abraham. Abraham returned most of the goods and the people to the king of Sodom, however, Abraham did pay tithes to Melchisedec. Those tithes would have effect in Abraham’s descendants, for God stated that Levi (from which the earthly priesthood sprung) paid tithes when he was yet in the loins of Abraham; and this was after meeting with Melchisedec, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth. Abraham lifted up his hand to God, he acknowledged by his attitude and action the God of heaven. The professing church has become so earth oriented that they have forgotten the supernatural Man came down from heaven. The supernatural Man died on the cross, the supernatural Man rose from the dead, and the supernatural Man ascended back into heaven with the glory that He obtained through His suffering, and His victory over sin, death, and hell. We should (knowing what we know of the divine Priesthood of the Lord Jesus) lift up our hand to the King of righteousness, the King of peace, and a Priest forever, after the oath of Melchisedec.

Genesis 14 is not only an earthly conflict, but a conflict of heaven against the evil of this world. In the defeat of the four kings, and the five kings, we see the supernatural power of God overthrowing the evils of man by His divine power. I find it interesting that the five kings lost their power and were almost all destroyed in the slime pit. Did they not know that the slime pits were there? They lived in that region for a long time. We would think that it would be strangers (the four kings from Mesopotamia) that would fall to the slime pits. But, in God’s divine action, His power, His determinate counsels, and through My Spirit, sayeth the Lord of hosts, He led the five kings to the slime pits, and lessened the power of evil that Abraham would have to overcome. It would not be the first time that God would turn evil against evil to protect the righteous. When we examine the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth, we see that there is none higher, the expression ‘most high,’ is the ultimate height, or as in Hebrews, Chapter 7, Christ in His priesthood is made higher than the heavens. And then it is not the most high man, but the most high God.

Who was Abraham fighting against? The idolatrous land of Mesopotamia, the many gods of the land of Shinar. He was fighting against the evils of this world in both the natural, and spiritual world, and only by the most high God could Abraham be delivered.

The Supernatural Man Possesses Heaven and Earth

Then we have the revelation ‘possessor of heaven and earth.’ Not just Creator, but He possesses that which He had created. God possesses all of His creation, including man. God never surrendered or signed over control or dominion of His creation to any man, or to Satan. Each time an element of God’s creation rebelled against Him; it is judged by the possessor of all things. Whether it be in heaven or in the earth, God is in complete control and over all things. It is God, as the most high, who controls the kingdoms of the world.

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: (Genesis 14:19)

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, (Genesis 14:22)

In verse 19, Abraham is blessed of the most high God, Melchisedec. When Abraham is witnessing to the king of Sodom, Abraham signifies that he has lifted up his hand to the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth. Notice the word, ‘LORD,’ in verse 22. Abraham injects this word by divine inspiration, and the mind of the Spirit of God; for he fully recognized that Melchisedec was the LORD, and that he had been blessed by the LORD; therefore, there was nothing, absolutely nothing that the world, or the king of Sodom, could add unto Abraham. For he had divine possession of the promises that the possessor of heaven and earth had given him, the LORD had blessed him, and no earthly potentate could add to that blessing. Verse 22 is Abraham’s magnification of the most high God, which in turn, has magnified Abraham’s faith. He stood before a king in the name of a greater King, for truly the LORD is the Lord of lords, and King of kings. In keeping with the mind of God, the Spirit also speaks in Revelation, Chapter 14, verse 7. Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. This verse is the last mention of heaven and earth, as we know it. This mention revolves around the worship of the One who has created all things. In the revelation of Melchisedec we have the divine Creator revealed as possessor of heaven and earth. In Revelation, Chapter 14, we have the acknowledgment of man, and worship of the divine Creator and possessor of heaven and earth. Notice, that in both Genesis 14, and Revelation 14, the surroundings are a place of worship. As it was Abraham’s place before Melchisedec to worship God, the Son of God said to His disciples, Take, eat of this bread, this is my body smitten for you. Take this cup, and drink, this is my blood shed for you. The symbol that is before us with Melchisedec in the bread and the wine is the symbol that we hold as endless life in our Savior, Christ our God. It is a place of sacrifice and death, but it is also a cup of joy in eternal life. In this meeting (of the breaking of bread and the cup of wine) each one of us have acknowledged that we have lifted up our hands to the most high God, and that we bear His name, Jesus Christ. For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Ephesians 3:14) Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, (Ephesians 3:15)

In identifying with Melchisedec, Abraham identified himself with, and by, the name of the LORD. In Ephesians, our eternity is attached to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The whole family, that is all who are bought by the blood of the Lord Jesus; we bear His name, both in heaven and earth. Does not this relate back to Genesis, Chapter 14, when Abraham lifted up his hand to the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth.

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Ephesians 3:14)

Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, (Ephesians 3:15)

That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; (Ephesians 3:16)

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, (Ephesians 3:17)

May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; (Ephesians 3:18)

And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. (Ephesians 3:19)

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (Ephesians 3:20)

Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. (Ephesians 3:21)

In Abraham’s meeting with Melchisedec, the high priest, can you not see the fulfillment of Ephesians, Chapter 3:14-21. I realize that Abraham was not in our position as saints in the Church of God, but Abraham was in possession of faith, and possession of faith gave him standing in the things of God in meeting Melchisedec, who revealed to Abraham the day of Christ, or the fullness of time. The phrase, ‘heaven and earth,’ is consistent with the Creator God. He has created both heaven and earth, and He testifies to this throughout the Scriptures. In this relationship alone, Melchisedec was the Son of God. For all things were created by Him, and for Him.

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: (Colossians 1:15)

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: (Colossians 1:16)

And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians 1:17)

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.(Colossians 1:18)

In Colossians, we see the fullness of the Creator and possessor of heaven and earth. How could we ascribe this to a mere man? And how could we call a mere man King of peace? (Isaiah 9:6) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6, is one of the most extensive lists of the name of God, and these names are ascribed to the Son of God. This verse closes with the Prince of Peace, and this Prince (when He comes in His glory) will be King of peace. To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; (Hebrews 7:2)

In the 7th Chapter of the Book of Hebrews, we have the grand conclusion of the Eternal Priesthood of the Son of God. This is seen in its fulfillment, in a priest forever, after the order of Melchisedec: before the window or curtain was opened to reveal the new heaven and the new earth where the Son will be the Priest of God dwelling in righteousness with His redeemed people forever after the oath of Melchisedec. In Abraham we see the acceptance of the divine things of heaven as well as God’s actions on earth. Abraham is in complete realization that God is over all. He rejects the world for God, it is God who sustains him, it is God who blesses him, and it is God who will keep him through the darkness of death. He has just been victorious over the enemies of God, but he does not boast in himself, but he boasts in the name of the most high God.

The Holy Spirit gives us a wonderful revelation that God, and God alone is the possessor of heaven and earth. As with Abraham, we also have the sustaining power of the great high priest Melchisedec. We see this in Hebrews, Chapter 4, verse 16. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. We see in the throne of grace the power of the God of comfort, and a God that sustains us through the trials of life, and sorrows. We have the privilege to come boldly to the throne of grace; and yes, we meet there with our great high priest after the order of Melchisedec. As He sustained Abraham with bread and wine, as He was a priest in the upper room, this One who is the God of eternity took the Passover with His disciples. Watch as the Lord Jesus moves through the tabernacle with His priestly service in the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 22, verses 14-20.

And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. (Luke 22:14)

And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: (Luke 22:15)

For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. (Luke 22:16)

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: (Luke 22:17)

For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. (Luke 22:18)

And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. (Luke 22:19)

Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. (Luke 22:20)

The divine Son, and Priest of the most high God takes us, with His blood, into the Holy of Holies and places His blood, the blood of the covenant, on the heavenly mercy seat, as the Cherubims look on. Jesus Christ (as the Son of God, as the son of man) is also the high Priest after the oath of Melchisedec. His first act was to offer Himself as the sacrificial Lamb. To offer a sacrifice one had to be a priest, this He was able to do because of His eternal Priesthood, then, He took His blood as the high priest would do, and after the order of Melchisedec the Lord Jesus placed it on the mercy seat in heaven.

It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. (Hebrews 9:23)

For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: (Hebrews 9:24)

Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; (Hebrews 9:25)

For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. (Hebrews 9:26)

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27)

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. (Hebrews 9:28)

Jesus Christ as Melchisedec accomplished our eternal salvation through His work, and death upon the brazen altar, the cross of Calvary.

But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. (Hebrews 7:24)

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25)

For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; (Hebrews 7:26)

Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. (Hebrews 7:27)

For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. (Hebrews 7:28)

As the Spirit of God teaches us: this is the sum, or the complete display of Melchisedec. He is God the Son, and God the Son was always Melchisedec, the Priest of the most high God, as the manifested Man and God (Jesus Christ) He had to learn obedience by the things in which He suffered.

So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. (Hebrews 5:5)

As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. (Hebrews 5:6)

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; (Hebrews 5:8)

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (Hebrews 5:9)

Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. (Hebrews 5:10)

As man, the Lord Jesus in His incarnation, was Emmanuel (God with us). His title in His incarnation was the Son of God, and the son of man; and in twain He made one new man. There was nothing in Christ of Adam. Christ was the man from heaven, and He is now the Man in glory, the glorified Man. Now according to the genealogy of Matthew, Chapter 1, the Lord Jesus was the root from the tribe of Judah, and not from the tribe of Levi. The priesthood of Levi was only an earthly priesthood which shadowed the heavenly Priesthood of Melchisedec. The Levitical priesthood was of the earth, earthly, but Christ is the Man from heaven, and a high Priest forever after the order or oath of Melchisedec.

The Supernatural Man: Appears in the Fires

Now we must look into the Book of Daniel, Chapter 3, verses 25 and 26.

Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. (Daniel 3:24)

He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. (Daniel 3:25)

Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. (Daniel 3:26)

The scene before us in the Book of Daniel is one of idolatry. The greatest image ever dedicated to man is raised in insolence against the most high God in the plain of Dura, in the land of Shinar. Nebuchadnezzar had built a golden image to his own supremacy and sovereignty over the world. The idol was to deify the very person of Nebuchadnezzar in the presence of all the priests, and all the occult members assembled together for this grand event. The evil of the world was totally represented, and the order was that every knee should bow to Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image. There were three young men who had like Abraham lifted up their hands to the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth. They would not submit to the command of the king. The king, after counsel, set a judgment to those who would not bow to his golden image. Once again, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would not bow the knee to the golden image; therefore, Nebuchadnezzar sentenced them to the fires of judgment. In fact, the fires were heated seven times hotter, showing in the number 7, the absolute and complete enmity of man against God, and against God’s faithful. These three were cast into the fiery furnace, the king looked, and saw them walking in the midst of the fire, for only the ropes that bound them were burnt. They were completely free to walk in the fires of judgment. Nebuchadnezzar, through divine revelation, saw a fourth figure as a man, and proclaimed like the centurion, Surely, this is the son of God. Nebuchadnezzar was so struck by the image of the fourth man that the Spirit of God made him declare, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. This fourth figure was the Son of God, this was the supernatural Man come to deliver Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The three Hebrew men are recorded as being the servants of the most high God, so we see, in relationship to the Son of God walking in the fires of judgment His power to deliver His own. Remember, this is the scene of idolatry against the Almighty God. The total priesthood of the occult was present, thus, God sent His Son as a priest forever after the order of Melchisedec to confound the wisdom and nature of the evil priesthood and king Nebuchadnezzar.

It is the Lord Jesus Christ who went into the fires of judgment for us. It is the Lord Jesus Christ who delivered us through, and from, the eternal judgment fires of God. By His death on the cross of Calvary, He has translated us into His kingdom. Even though, we are still present on earth, we are in position in the kingdom of God. In the Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 28, verses 11-19 we have the overthrow of Lucifer (Satan, or the old serpent, the devil). Note: the beauty that was seen in him.

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, (Ezekiel 28:11)

Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. (Ezekiel 28:12)

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. (Ezekiel 28:13)

Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. (Ezekiel 28:14)

Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. (Ezekiel 28:15)

By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. (Ezekiel 28:16)

Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. (Ezekiel 28:17)

Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. (Ezekiel 28:18)

All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. (Ezekiel 28:19)

Lucifer walked in the garden of God. It was Lucifer as the serpent who overthrew man in Adam and Eve. Lucifer’s fall is also recorded in Isaiah, Chapter 14:12-20. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! (Isaiah 14:12)

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:(Isaiah 14:13)

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. (Isaiah 14:14)

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. (Isaiah 14:15)

They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; (Isaiah 14:16)

That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners? (Isaiah 14:17)

All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.(Isaiah 14:18)

But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet. (Isaiah 14:19)

Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned. (Isaiah 14:20)

Because of Lucifer’s rebellion against God, our supernatural Man, the Lord Jesus Christ, cast Lucifer down to the ground. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. (Luke 10:18) In all of Lucifer’s glory, in all his beauty, in his position of leadership over the angels, in all this he forgot one thing: he was a created being, and he was in the service of God. He was a servant of his Creator, and yet, being a servant, he rebelled against his God. (Does this not show you a connection between Nimrod (the rebel) and (the rebel) Lucifer). We see the comparison of Lucifer’s pride with the pride of Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar could not destroy God; therefore, he would attempt to destroy the three servants who were faithful to God. In the deliverance of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Nebuchadnezzar stressed their faithfulness by the words of ‘servants of the most high God.’ This declaration came forth because of his vision of the Son of God as the high priest of God walking in the fires of judgment and overcoming them by His power that the flames of the earth cannot destroy or hurt His own.

So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. (Hebrews 5:5)

As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. (Hebrews 5:6)

The Supernatural Man Intervenes in The Affairs of Man

Why are these three appearances of the Son of God so important in their connection? His appearance to Abraham in Genesis 14 shows His possession of heaven and earth. In Daniel 3, we have a symbol of His power over death and the fires of hell that His own will not be touched by the raging fires of judgment. Then in Mark 5, we have the underworld, the world of Satan acknowledging that this One who has power over them is the Son of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth, and He is the possessor of both the seen and unseen.

In Daniel 3, we have Nebuchadnezzar glorifying his golden idol and the whole aspect of idolatry in the land of Shinar. Remember that at this point almost all of the nation of Israel was in captivity. These three (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) represent or spiritually symbolize the Spirit of Christ: they refused the works of the flesh of man, and the world. Once again, we have the battle between Ishmael and Isaac, or the flesh versus the Spirit. (Galatians 4) In the reply of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego they had complete confidence in God whether God delivers them or not, they will serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The fires are a symbol of the eternal judgment against all men in opposition to God. Even though the fires were kindled by Nebuchadnezzar and his hosts, and heated seven times hotter, when the appearance of the Son of God was in the midst of the fiery furnace, He walked freely with the three Hebrew men. He had complete power over the fires of the world. The number 4 represents the world, and He is showing His power over world forces. Also, we have a relationship to Revelation, Chapter 1, where He told the apostle that He alone has power over death and hell, as the great high priest. By His presence, as the priest of the most high God walking in the fires, He is condemning the epitome of man’s idolatry against Almighty God.

The Supernatural Man: The Greatest Revelation of God to Man

When Christ was manifested in the fullness of time, we had the greatest revelation of the Son of God to man. In all 4 gospels Christ is revealed and magnified amongst men. In the end of His sojourn on earth, He battled with both the seen and unseen world. He not only conquered death but conquers the one who had the power of death, the devil, and delivers those who would believe in His name. When He returned from the dead in His resurrection, He made sure that He expounded to His disciples all the things that were written by Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms concerning Him. (Luke 24) Christ was sent of the Father to complete the work of redemption, to deliver those who would believe in Him from the fiery furnace of eternal judgment. God had prepared a body before the foundation of the earth, God the Son had already taken on an image, and with that image He revealed Himself to man (who He created in that very image before the fall).

In Hebrews, Chapter 10, we have the body that is prepared, we have the servant that is willing, and we have the Son who is faithful. The body was to be the sacrifice for sin. In the servant we have the supernatural calling by God, and in the Son, we have the Son of His love in whom the Father was well pleased. From the foundation of the world, we have Him as the Lamb of God, He is the One, the only One, who can take sin upon Himself. He is the only One who can destroy sin by taking sin into death, and then deliver Himself in the power of resurrection. Before God said, Let there be light; before the seven days of the Master Builders work, before Adam, before the foundation of the earth, the body, the Lamb of God was prepared. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (Revelation 13:8)

In Daniel 3, we have three Hebrew men representing the faithful to God; they have every reason to bow down to Nebuchadnezzar; they were in captivity, and under the rule of world power. Even though they had prospered in this evil kingdom their hearts, and their faithfulness was to the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth. With all the might and power that Nebuchadnezzar possessed there was a complete absence of God, in fact, the golden image of Nebuchadnezzar was not only a symbol of his own personal blindness, but a symbol of the blindness of the whole Gentile world. There is no idol that has ever been made by man that could see, hear, breathe, and move by its own creative power; they indulge themselves with idolatry because of the enmity of their hearts and the blindness of their souls to the things of God.

Through the history of man God has been collecting a people for Himself, whether in the Old Testament or the New Testament, there has always been a remnant of faith in this world. Although we have different economies, one under law, and the other under grace: faith is the consistent factor through both, and that faith is given both by, and of, the Lord Jesus Christ. In His position as the great high priest, after the order or oath of Melchisedec (Hebrews 7) He is fit to lead His children through the fires and deliver them from the wrath to come. In Abraham’s day we have the first mention of war among the Gentiles with the four kings against the five kings. We have the first war against the flesh by the Spirit in Abraham fighting the four kings from Mesopotamia. And we have the first victory of a man led by faith over the evils of this world. Up to the victory of Abraham, God had been dealing with man Himself. God had been using divine judgment from heaven over the kingdoms of man. The war against evil, up to this point was all of God, now, because of the call of Abraham out of the land of Shinar, God would use this man of faith to destroy the evil of the world. In the promises to Abraham, we have Abraham’s confidence in the God of glory. The God of glory had appeared to Abraham, it was the God of glory who first promised Abraham a land, and a seed who would rule over the kingdoms of men. It was faith in the God of glory that led Abraham to go against this multitude with such a small force. Abraham was brought into battle in a divine way, but he also had personal convictions concerning Lot (his brother’s son) who was also called the brother of Abraham. In the aftermath of this tremendous battle of flesh and Spirit, we find a man of faith with victory over the evils of the world, and he personally would not take the glory or the spoils. He lays all that he is, and has, at the feet of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth. Abraham rises above the things of the earth into the presence of Melchisedec. Remember the four kings after their defeat of the five kings represented the power of the four corners of the earth, all four of these kings were the head of their own particular idolatry, and each one had its own particular priesthood. This was not a light thing in the eyes of God for they had many temples, many idols, and many priests.

The Supernatural Man: Priest — Pure — Powerful — Divine

Idolatry is the strength of the perverted evil of the devil. With it the flesh is magnified, and the flesh is allowed all of its wickedness and sin. There is no way that one can fathom how deep idolatry and the wickedness of the flesh will take a nation. In Abraham’s victory it was not a national victory, but a spiritual victory over all the evils of the world. So why not have the appearance of the greatest conqueror of all, the Lord Jesus Christ as Melchisedec, the divine Priest from on high. In His relationship as high Priest, He has complete control of the spiritual and the unseen things, He is not only the possessor of the physical heaven, and the physical earth, but He is the possessor of all the things that are not seen. In the title, the most high God, we have three references: Genesis, Daniel, and Mark’s gospel (Chapter 5), all three references points to the Son of God. And in His power over the world, seen and unseen, all three of these revelations or appearances had to do with the promises given to Abraham. For the Lord had promised Abraham that He would be Abraham’s shield and exceeding great reward. Under the economy of the law, when Israel went into battle, the high priest (in all his glory) would go before the ark of the covenant, and the Lord would deal divinely with Israel’s enemies, and the defeat of their enemies would be God’ victory.

The frailties of man brought about the corruption of the Aaronic priesthood until we get to Eli who was the blind high priest. We have the collapse of the priesthood in Eli’s sons, we have the ark of the covenant taken into captivity, and the Spirit of God states, Ichabod, because the glory had departed. One important connection: it was the God of glory who appeared to Abraham, and it was the God of glory who departed in the days of Eli (the blind priest and his sons).

We see in Melchisedec a divine priesthood that could not be corrupted by man because He was the Son of God, and thus, could not be corrupted, just as in Joshua, the captain of the LORD’S host who appeared to Joshua could not be corrupted by the things of the world. In Melchisedec’s meeting with Abraham we have a fellowship, and a confirmation of the promises that God had given Abraham. Not only had God been Abraham’s shield, but now with the bread and wine Melchisedec presented Abraham’s great reward in the bread and in the wine. If you take away the spiritual message here concerning the death, the burial, and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, you take away the fellowship, and the enduring faith that is in the great high Priest in heaven for us after the oath of Melchisedec. If we are to reject the world in our age, it must be in the strength in the fellowship that we have with our great high Priest. The throne of grace (Hebrews 4) must be the throne of our heart, spirit and soul. We can only defeat evil with the power and might centered around the priesthood of the Lord Jesus Christ for the battle is not ours, but His. Our Priest goes before, leading the way. With the supernatural Man on our side, we have the powers of eternity to overthrow the wickedness of the world, to pluck the burning brands out of the fires; and to overcome in our own bodies by the power of Christ, the things that alienate us from the will and mind of God. When the high priest was dressed in all his glory, there was not an eye that did not behold that glory. When the Lord Jesus was on the mount of transfiguration, that glory was expressed by God the Father in His beloved Son. The Lord Jesus, as the Almighty God, is the possessor of heaven and earth. In Genesis 14, we have not only the physical, but also the spiritual conflict of all ages; through the complete history of man, we will see this conflict until our great high Priest creates a new heaven, and a new earth wherein righteousness will dwell.

In the preservation of Lot, we have God intervening because of one righteous man, even though Lot had been consumed with the things of Sodom, the most high God would not let one of His possessions go. This was not only a divine act for Abraham, but a divine act for Lot as well.

The 318 trained servants were more than Gideon had when he battled with the Midianites. God had reduced Gideon’s forces to only 300 men. God was going to make sure that the children of Israel would see His divine hand in the battle. We read the record in Judges, Chapter 7, verses 1-7.

Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley. (Judges 7:1)

And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. (Judges 7:2)

Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand. (Judges 7:3)

And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go. (Judges 7:4)

So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink. (Judges 7:5)

And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.(Judges 7:6)

And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place. (Judges 7:7)

Note from the Spirit of God: we are in Judges, Chapter 7, notice it takes God seven verses to pick His army against the forces of evil; Chapter 7, and 7 verses God prepares 300 men for battle. Faith would believe that God handpicked every one of these men, not only Gideon was known by name, but every man (who defended God’s glory) was written in God’s book. Remember how Gideon began: he destroyed the groves of his father, he destroyed the idolatry that had come into his own family, and then, after divine guidance, he went out to fight against the evils of idolatry by defeating the Midianites with 300 divinely chosen men in Judges 7:1-7. God’s complete army: it is not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord that evil is overcome. There is much more to say about the Book of Judges, there are three ways to look at this book: first, the waywardness of Israel in their own battle against idolatry; secondly, the battle of man within man, both in Samson and in the close of the book that every man did that which was right in his own eyes; and the third, God’s dealing with the nation under His divine leadership and control, and how Israel rebelled against Him and later desired a king like the nations.

The Supernatural Man: His Eternal Priesthood

Back to Genesis, Chapter 14: Melchisedec is presented to us, first as King of Salem, or King of peace; then He is presented to us as the Priest of the most high God. In Hebrews, Chapter 7, the Holy Spirit adds King of righteousness.

From the fall of man to Genesis 14, there is no mention of an earthly priesthood of man that was called of God. There was no king on earth that was called of God; therefore, we see Melchisedec as the supernatural Man, both given and approved by God in His eternal priesthood which would be revealed by the Holy Spirit of God that Melchisedec is the Lord Jesus Christ. That His priesthood was before the foundation of the earth, now, the priesthood that was called of God is given in this way:

Why do men neglect the study of heaven and eternity, when so much has been given to us in the word of God? The Lord Jesus is the great high Priest of both heaven and earth. Man (at this point in time) corrupts the word of God by their earthly self-appointed priesthood. There is only one high Priest, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. Even the Aaronic priesthood was given as a pattern of things in heaven. As Moses was shown the tabernacle, the divine Tabernacle, he then by the help of the Spirit of God and Bezaleel made a tabernacle inspired by the true Tabernacle in heaven, so that God might dwell here on earth among men. All the articles that were designed and built were after the pattern of the heavenly things. If all these things existed in heaven, then they would have a need for a Priest in heaven after the order of Melchisedec, who was before the foundation of the world. Was not the Levitical priesthood with Aaron at the head, as the high priest, a pattern of the heavenly things. We see the son of man in Revelation, Chapter 1, He is the high Priest walking among the seven golden candlesticks in heaven (performing one of the duties of the high priest). He declared of Himself that He is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last. Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. (Revelation 1:11) The Lord makes this statement before John turned, when John turned, he saw the vision of the great high Priest. The vision is of the eternal priesthood of the Son of God. At the beginning of this vision, the Lord Jesus proclaimed that He is the first Priest, and the last Priest, He is the eternal Priest. After we complete the vision of the Son of God, as the great high Priest, John is so struck that he fell as dead before the feet of this high Priest. Christ laid His right hand upon John with the authority of His priesthood, He raised John and declared to him once more, He is the first and the last, and went on to say that He alone has the keys to both death and hell. This is in relationship to His divine priesthood that He has possesses in eternity. In Genesis 14, the Lord Jesus reveals Himself first as King of peace, and then the high Priest of the most high God. The only interpretation of the name Melchisedec is found in Hebrews, Chapter 7, where we have the complete depiction of the complete priesthood of Melchisedec, the Son of God.

The Supernatural Man: Eternal Existence

In Revelation, Chapter 1, the Lord Jesus witnesses concerning His own eternal existence. The first declaration is as the self-existing One, I AM; next, He gives His origin, that His origin in ‘the first,’ and His longevity is ‘the last,’ In verse 17, He repeats that longevity, this is not only the length of His priesthood, but the length of His whole divine Being. The son of man expounds on His own eternal life giving His witness twice as confirmation of this divine revelation; and that He has the keys in His hand of both death and hell. These keys have come from the suffering of the cross, for He had in His own hand His sacrifice, and His life. He announced prior to the cross that He had the power to lay His life down, and to take it again. He was proclaiming His own eternal priesthood for He would present Himself as the sacrifice for sin. He would present Himself as the spotless Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world.

The Supernatural Man Stands Before the World Court

When the Lord Jesus stood before Pilate, it was the world court that examined the Lamb of God. They were looking for a blemish whereby they could condemn Him. Satan was trying to discredit the sacrifice of God. No matter how hard the evil serpent tried, and even with the venomous shouts from man, Pilate (representing the world court) could not find fault or blemish in the pure victim without or within. The world before His crucifixion had to declare, even against their own nature, that they found no fault in the Son of God. Unaware, Pilate, himself, qualified the sacrifice in the Lord Jesus Christ. God, the Father, had already declared the Lord Jesus as the divine sacrifice; this was to fulfill the divine counsels of God; however, man, in the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ, contradicted his own earthly judgment and rule of law. After He was examined by the world court, He (as Melchisedec) had to prepare the Lamb; He submitted to the cross body, soul, and Spirit, and in the wrath of God against the sin of the world He felt the fires of judgment as the burnt offering upon the burnt altar (the cross of Calvary).

The Supernatural Man: The Supernatural Priest

He hung in the midst of heaven and earth: satisfying the claims of God on earth and in heaven; hanging between heaven and earth He not only was the divine sacrifice for mankind, but He was also the divine sacrifice of God. The first part of His ordeal was the suffering of the flesh. The second part was the fire and wrath of God, and the third part was death. Through the course of world history, and Jewish history, from on high He watched multitudes upon multitudes of his creation being offered on the brazen altar, knowing that in the distance was a cross for His own sacrifice. We see Him now as the resurrected man in heaven, after the sacrifice of Himself, after His accomplished work on the cross, after His ascension to the right hand of God, as Melchisedec the supernatural Priest, the supernatural Man. He walks among the candlesticks in heaven in the ministry of His priesthood, and He is possessor of the throne of grace that He purchased by the death of Himself on Calvary’s cross. Through countless years, He repeats His actions of Revelation, Chapter 1. He continually reveals Himself as the Ancient of Days, and the Eternal Priest of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth. This is the same Melchisedec who met Abraham after the slaughter of the four kings with bread and wine. This is the same Melchisedec of Psalm 110:4. In Psalm 110, we read the eternal pages of His eternal priesthood; the whole of Psalm 110 is this priest forever after the oath of Melchisedec. In writing about Melchisedec there is not enough books in this world to describe the glories of the One who holds the title of the great high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Amen

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: (1 Peter 1:8)

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:9)

Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: (1 Peter 1:10)

Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. (1 Peter 1:11)
