The Supernatural Design of Cohesiveness in Scripture
Within the Bible there is a supernatural cohesiveness deliberately placed there by the Holy Spirit of God. Rarely is this cohesiveness mentioned, or preached or even taught because when you see and understand this special element in the design of Scripture then not only is the written word (Scripture) opened to you, but the Living Word of God is revealed in all His supernatural omniscience. Many look at God’s omniscience as limited in His written word, and consequently, this limitation is viewed as also limited in His Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ. But His words are without limits as scripture proves scripture.
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. (Isaiah 28:9) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isaiah 28:10)
Exactly WHAT is this design element that the Holy Spirit of God utilized in His written word? It is a very simple principle, so simple in fact, that many totally disregard it because of its simplicity. God the Holy Spirit understood (and understands) His audience, that His creatures, made from dust, are basically simple minded scripturally and therefore, they need to be led from word to word. Whether saved or unrepentant this simple principle can be clearly seen. However, there is a tremendous difference on how the saved understands why this cohesive design is employed by the Holy Spirit of God and how the unrepentant can merely see the difference without understanding the difference. Both types of readers (saved and unsaved) can see the difference, but only the saved can understand the difference.
The principle (based on the supernatural cohesiveness of the word of God) is the principle of The Law of First Mention. This is both a principle and a law and as we continue on in this article, you may come to comprehend the spiritual connection.
If you have never heard of the Law of First Mention it is simply this: whenever a word or a phrase is FIRST mentioned or documented in Scripture, how it is first mentioned or defined follows ALL the way throughout both the Old Testament and the New Testament. BUT I also have a disclaimer that you need to understand. The Law of First Mention can ONLY be seen, studied and followed in the King James Bible. The Law of First Mention breaks down in most all other translations. Since it is the Holy Spirit of God who DESIGNED His Supernatural book with cohesive structure (partially based on the Law of First Mention) it is no wonder that this Law of First Mention fails in the other versions of the Bible because the Spirit of God is NOT IN them.
Since this article is about the cohesiveness of Scripture, we will not be dealing with other supernatural elements in the Bible, such as rhythm, numerical placement, alliteration, patterns of structure, and scores of other examples of biblical design.
I am going to safely link you to some articles that have been previously posted that contain the principle of the Law of First Mention. You do not have to read every article, nor read the complete article, the links are there to show you how the Law of First Mention is an important design element BY the Holy Spirit of God and FOR your LEARNING. God the Holy Spirit not only breathed the word of God into the hearts of those who penned His word, but He supplied the tools to mine the jewels within His word.
The EYES
Let us take the first and the last mention of the word eyes and SEE the connection. Between the first mention in Genesis 3:5 (For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil) and last mention, this word eyes is documented almost five hundred times; and yet from the first mention when Adam and Eve willfully chose to disobey God, and therefore, to suffer the consequences of their rebellion, mankind has never ceased from shedding tears over sin and death. BUT the last mention (Revelation 21:4) of the word eyes draws the conclusion to the first mention in Genesis 3:5, And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Revelation 21:4) Following the word eyes is a very basic example of how the Law of First Mention works.
Now let us separate the readers of curiosity, from the milk readers, and from the meat-chewing-to-the-bone eaters. For an opportunity to test your spiritual tolerance level CLICK HERE. This article deals with the phrase ‘goodly tents.‘ This phrase is not often mentioned in Bible studies, so it may lead readers of ‘milk’ into some chewy areas.
CLICK HERE to follow the word ‘sceptre,‘ (or scepter). CLICK HERE to follow the word scarlet. CLICK HERE to follow the word purple. I could continue on and on, word by word, and phrase by phrase. I can supply the horse, but I draw the line with the water, for it is the Spirit of God who controls the pure refreshing water of the word of God.
