Balaam

The Second Parable

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4) And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5)

   This series called Men of Renown will begin with these verses in Chapter 6 of the book of Genesis because it is the perfect scene setter for whatever and whoever follows that enables men of renown to act in conflict against God and His Word. Genesis 6 verses 4 and 5 are an accurate definition of men of renown.

   The phrase ‘men of renown’ occurs in the Bible only two times. The second and last mention can be found in the 4th book of the Pentateuch in the book of Numbers, Chapter 16. This last mention of ‘men of renown’ goes beyond the definition of men of renown and expands what ‘men of renown’ are not only capable of, but what lurks in the inner most recesses of their thoughts.

  Although most readers will probably not begin with Men of Renown Part i, ii, iii, iv and v, I suggest that to get more from this particular article about Balaan, Part xi, that you should first read Balaam Part vi, and maybe vii, viii, ix, and x, but that’s just my opinion. . . .

The Second Parable of Balaam

   Each parable of Balaam presents a different scriptural principle, and sometimes more than one principle can be seen entwined in the verses. If you are limited by time, I suggest that you at least read Part x that deals with the first parable of Balaam.

And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:  (Numbers 23:18)

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?  (Numbers 23:19)

Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.  (Numbers 23:20)

He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. (Numbers 23:21)

God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. (Numbers 23:22)　

Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought! (Numbers 23:23)

Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain. (Numbers 23:24)

And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:  (Numbers 23:18)

  Balaam’s first and second parables both began by recognizing Balak as the instigator for the need of the parable. As the system of Balaamism has infiltrated into our age, so also Balakism is the character of our age. Balakism is seen today through the tentacles of organized criminal governments plotting to overthrow their own people; therefore, it is quite fitting that the name of Balak means ‘to waste’ or ‘to annihilate.’

   Balak is connected to his father, Zippor, seven times in the Bible. The number seven is related to divine perfection in all that God accomplishes. This is God’s number. How then does it connect to Zippor mentioned seven times in the Old Testament? It is still God’s number! Simple . . . . everything that God puts His hand to is perfect. Even when God reveals evil producing evil, as in the example of the man Zippor being the root of his evil son Balak, we see God’s perfection in the details, and in everyone, and in every name, and in every number. ALL that God sets before our eyes may reveal evil and corruptness, but because of this, and in spite of this, we see God’s PERFECT PLAN. God’s PERFECTION is not only seen in Himself, but it is also seen in how He sets the stage, and places the actors on His stage, and through their names and relationship He presents their character and how they influenced not only their time frame, but also how they affected and colored the future.

   The name of Zippor has the meaning of ‘tripping about’ as a bird or a fowl. I have watched hens trip about, going quickly from one spot to the next without rhyme or reason. They scamper briskly turning this way and that way, turning from the food in front of them as they spy a bit of morsel to their right, and off they go: without rhyme nor reason. ‘Tripping about’ shows a form of instability. These individuals are never satisfied, and they are unable to focus steadfastly on any objective. In Zippor, the father of Balak, we see the basic instability of mankind as foraging free-ranging yard hens running trippingly along from one piece of morsel to the next. (Watching hens running erratically without direction, quickly turning completely around to chase another hen with a scrap of food dangling from its peak is not only entertaining, but it is also very instructional.) A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8) This unstable man (Zippor) the father of ‘Waster’ or ‘Annihilator’ is synonymous with our contemporary age of instability and insanity. Zippor was the role model for his son Balak. Why? Anyone who believes that he can fight against God is insane, and anyone who acts on this belief is unstable. And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor: (Numbers 23:18)

   Then the voice of the Holy Spirit spoke through the vocal chords and mouth of the corrupt hypocrite Balaam and said,  Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor. Rise up . . . . rise above your clay formed body . . . . rise up beyond your earth-bound thoughts and ideas . . . . rise up outside of all that you know . . . . and hear . See and understand the Eternal Power of God that you fight against. This can be said directly to all of our world today. Rise up, (rise up outside of all that you believe) Balak, (you Waster and Annihilator of all that is good on this earth) and hear (hear what God has to say in His Word); hearken unto me (take in what God says in His Word), thou son of Zippor (you are a product, and a child of sinful mankind: you are unstable in spirit, and spiritually insane). You cannot fight against God!

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19)

   I doubt that there is anyone reading this article who refuses to believe that there is a God; consequently, I will not attempt to prove that God is REAL, and that He exists. I will, however,  attempt to counter man’s unsound beliefs that God speaks as man would speak, that He acts as man would act, that He lies as man lies, and that He is limited in His resources and knowledge as man is limited.

   As God cannot die, He cannot lie. He is incapable of deception, He cannot deny Himself. If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. (2 Timothy 2:13) It is almost ludicrous that any creature (such as me) should make an attempt to describe the essence of God in human language and thought. God is beyond our total comprehension, how then to describe the very core of the depth of God? Because He cannot be dissected and internally scrutinized. He, who is All in All, Creator and Sovereign of the Universe and all that is within our universe, cannot deny who He is, cannot deny His attributes, cannot deny Himself for the approval of His creatures. Scripture affirms many times that He alone is the potter, and we are the clay. He does with us as He wills. This principle is difficult if not impossible for the natural man to understand because he has been trained to believe that he (man) alone is the mover and controller of his own destiny. What is the natural man but foolish and arrogant. It is only through the new birth that natural man becomes a new man; born into the family of God; and thus, now a child of God has a mind, heart and soul open to God and His Sovereignty.

   Notice the first characteristic that man is noted for in this verse in the second parable of Balaam is that man is a liar. God is not a man, that he should lie. And what is the characteristic most noted in this verse about man’s offspring: neither the son of man, that he should repent?

Side Note: LIAR. Please note that the word ‘liar’ is recorded 13 times in the Bible, five times in the Old Testament and eight times in the New Testament for a total of thirteen times. Mankind is tarred and feathered with lies. The tar is the glue of the adhesiveness of sin, and the feathers are the many ways that man lies.

The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.  (Psalm 58:3)

Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. (Isaiah 48:8)

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;  (1^st Timothy 4:2)

   Born liars. We do not need to be trained to lie. It comes naturally to all. The pathetic side of being natural liars is that for the majority it is easier to accept a lie then it is to accept the truth. It is far easier to speak a lie then it is to speak the truth. I know this for a fact, and I have seen this in action. Try telling a potential customer the truth about why they cannot get something on their own imaginative predetermined time schedule, or produce a quality product without proper planning and preparation, and they will refuse to accept it; however, they will readily accept lies with a smile. I have had potential customers walk away because they could not accept the truth, nor adjust their unrealistic goals, or accept responsibility for their lack of planning and timing even when professionals were willing to work with them to achieve the best product possible. (It is like the person who arrives at the airport 20 minutes after the departure gate has closed and blames the plane for leaving without them.) The lies . . . . the taxi was late, the airport personnel were slow, the time on the ticket was wrong, lies . . . . lies, but where is the truth? Truth is so difficult to accept because it cuts into the inflated ego.

  The meaning in the number thirteen is realized in its completeness in the 13^th Chapter of the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ in the rise of the beast, in his mark, and in his number of 6 – 6 – 6. This is very easy to remember. Also, another point to remember, there are eighteen verses in Chapter 13: again see the connection to 6 – 6 – 6 because 6 – 6 – 6 adds up to be 18. Is this not a double whammy hitting us? The Spirit of God not only delights in details, but He also finds joy in joining the seen with the unseen, the obvious with the subtle.

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. (Revelation 13:18) (The inspired words Six hundred threescore and six is the seen and the obvious. The number of 6 – 6 – 6 in the unseen and the subtle is in the number 18, showing us that even in the reference numbering system God knew of its beginning and He uses ALL for His glory.) (The proof of God’s power over the realm of inspiration is evidenced through the parables spoken by the mouth of the evil and corrupt prophet-priest Balaam.) Here again, God is neither limited, nor controlled by what mankind has predetermined what God can or cannot use to bring forth His glory.

   We are born liars. As magnets we gravitate to lies, we not only invent lies, but we defend our lies. The major accomplishment of a successful politician is to appreciate and master the art of lying because in the mouth of a politician lying is an art form. Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44) ♦ End of Side Note.

    What were the first lies uttered on planet Earth? Ye shall not surely die, and ye shall be as gods. If you are one of the few who actually read articles on our web sites, then you know that this is a familiar theme BECAUSE it is a constant theme. We are suffering today because of the actions of those who actually believe these two lies. Somehow, the powers that ARE believe that they will live forever in the depth of their evilness because THEY ARE GODS. I cannot write that it is the political powers alone who believe this fallacy because this evil is deeply entrenched in ALL aspects of life. Academics, scientists, industrialists, bankers, financial controllers, politicians, religionists, and technophiles have swallowed the lies of the originator of all lies: Satan himself . . . . Ye shall not surely die, and ye shall be as gods.

Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. (Numbers 23:20)

   Stating that he (Balaam) is unable to stop or change God’s blessings is a major block to the plans of Balak and to Balaam. There are many doctrines that theologians, preachers, Bible teachers, and pew warmers reject or attempt to change. There are also many principles in Scripture that I find difficult to fully comprehend, however, just because I lack spiritual comprehension does not mean that Scripture is in error. Scripture does not have a problem, it is man who has the problem.

   And he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it, God is Sovereign. God’s sovereignty cannot be successfully challenged because God REIGNS SUPREME. Here is another point that man fights against because man cannot accept any power greater than his own delusional power. The first of the lies has never been erased from Adam’s descendants, ye shall be as gods. There can only be ONE GOD, and ONE SOVEREIGN. Consequently, man is now in a soul battle with himself. This inner conflict has become a very visible outward conflict as we are witnesses of what we term ‘a meltdown,’ or ‘having a Karen,’ or ‘entitlement anger.’ Trapped airline passengers have witnessed these emotional episodes erupt more frequently. Airport personnel have experienced an increase of uncontrollable individuals unable to deal with inconveniences and changes in their schedules because mankind has reached a breaking point when his fantasy world collides with reality. The child that threw a temper tantrum in a store because they could not get what they wanted has become the same person who now throws themselves on the floor (in childish frustration and anger) in an airport because the plane left on time. (True statement, I have witnessed this exact act of childish frustration.)

   Have you never heard, or experienced, someone demanding that they be treated above all others? This is entitlement delusion. Ye will be as gods. Mankind has promoted ‘entitlement.’ We are people of ‘rights.’ We have civil rights, legal rights, property rights, copyrights, voting rights (which we no longer have after the voting fraud of 2020), and personal rights. So many rights, but not many wrongs. Some have more rights then others, and some take away the rights of others, but what our ‘entitlement delusion gods’ act on is that they alone have rights: the right to inconvenience others, the right to put themselves above others, the right to steal, the right to create havoc, and the right to control every situation. Many refer to these individuals as having a narcissistic personality disorder. I disagree, these people (as all people in varying degrees) do not have a personality disorder. It is not personality that is effected, nor is it a disorder. It is their hearts and souls that have been affected by sin. They truly believe that they are godlike, that they have special attributes which should be acknowledged by family, friends and all who come in contact with them. Instead of labeling this as a personality disorder why don’t we simply say that they have a god complex . . . . NO, it is not a complex . . . . they have been overcome with the sinful desire to be as god. This is what brought Satan down. It is Satan’s folly. Ye shall be as gods.

    In all these rights, mankind has deliberately left out one thing. GOD HAS RIGHTS. He has rights beyond the rights of His creation, His creatures: mankind. The Constitution of the United States and The Bill of Rights gives citizens rights over its government. The rights of the people is supposedly protected by the Constitution. But there is a greater document of rights for ALL people, and that is the Word of God. In this document the rights of God are stated clearly.

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19) Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. (Numbers 23:20) 

   God has total RIGHTS over ALL. It is His will that is supreme. It is His Son, Jesus Christ who shall be honored and worshiped. It is His WORD and words that cannot be altered because God is not a man, that he should lie.

He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. (Numbers 23:21)

   What does this verse reveal about God? It reveals an almost unbelievable concept that God’s forgiveness is boundless. He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob. Jacob was full of guile and deception that his early life reads as a novel of an amateur con man. A man of deception was deceived by others, and in spite of Jacob’s early life God said that He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob. The Holy Spirit (through the pen of Moses) then added this phrase about Israel, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel. What? There is no end of documentation by the Holy Spirit of God of the perverseness of Israel in Scripture. Yet, God draws us into who He is. The iniquity of Jacob, and the perverseness of Israel was a documented truth; however, it is not about Jacob, nor is it about Israel because it is about GOD.

   This second parable out of the mouth of Balaam is not only about the Sovereignty of Jehovah, but it was also to show to Balaam, and to those around Balaam, and to us, that in God’s Sovereignty there was forgiveness. His Sovereignty is not one dimensional. He is Kind, Good, Forbearing, Longsuffering, and Forgiving. Our God is beyond understanding . . . . faith allows entrance into a realm beyond our own. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament agree as one when addressing the divine nature of God’s forgiveness.

<<A Psalm of David, Maschil.>>Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. (Psalm 32:1) Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. (Psalm 32:2)

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, (Romans 4:6) Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. (Romans 4:7) Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. (Romans 4:8)

   This phrase enforces the principle of the forgiveness of God, the LORD his God is with him. This may be a small phrase, but it is a powerful statement for when the LORD <Y@hovah> his God <‘elohiym> is with you then you are safely wrapped securely in the power of the forgiveness of the LORD God. For thou, Lord, [art] good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. (Psalm 86:5) Forgiveness is not a matter to trifle with, God’s forgiveness is not given to be lightly accepted. God’s forgiveness is serious business. But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. (Psalm 130:4) Do not think that you can play with God. Do not assume that God is a man, God is not a man.

   Life and death are both deadly matters. Hell and heaven are not places to jest about, nor are they temporary locations where you get another chance to reconsider your situation. Although Psalm 130 was written by David (through the Holy Spirit) concerning his soul’s desire for himself and for his nation Israel, it is also a spiritual teaching point to all who wait on the Lord in anticipation of the His deliverance.

<<A Song of degrees.>> Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. (Psalm 130:1)

Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. (Psalm 130:2)

If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? (Psalm 130:3)

But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.  (Psalm 130:4)

I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.  (Psalm 130:5)

My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.  (Psalm 130:6)

Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.  (Psalm 130:7)

And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities. (Psalm 130:8)

   This parable comes together in the last phrase . . . . He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. God does not see Jacob’s iniquity, nor will he see perverseness in Israel because He dwells among them. This verse is a time line from Jacob into the future of the millennial kingdom when Christ Jesus will reign as King not only over the nation of Israel, but also over all the earth. God dwelt among His people as they journeyed through the wilderness, and He will again dwell among them as King of kings, and Lord of lords. The following list is of the King for your further study.

1. The King (Isaiah 33:17) (Luke 19:38)

2. The King of the Jews (Matthew 2:2)

3. The King of Israel (John 1:47-49)

4. The King of saints (Revelation 15:3-4)

5. The King Eternal of all ages (1 Timothy 1:17)

6. The King of Righteousness and Peace (Hebrews 7:1-3)

7. The King of heaven (Daniel 4:37 then 34)

8. The King of glory (Psalm 24:7,8)

9. The King of kings (Revelation 19:12-16)

10. My King and My God (Psalm 5:2) (Psalm 44:4)

11. King over all the earth (Psalm 47:2, 7)

12. The King of nations (Jeremiah 10:7)

   These represent the many crowns mentioned in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ in Chapter 19, verse 12.  His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. This is the King who is among Israel . . . . in time past. . . . in today . . . . and then, in time yet to come, and the shout of a king is among them.

   Balaam, who represents ecclesiastical corruption, spoke words that he could do nothing against. It is an undeniable truth that no power on earth, or in the spiritual world can counter the power of God. Man cannot fight against God and win. All the evil spiritual forces of Satan cannot fight against God and win. Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God [is] with us. (Isaiah 8:10)

   The history of Israel in the battles of the wilderness, and in the battles in their land correspond closely to the battles of Christianity. As Israel fought actual physical battles (and also spiritual battles), Christians have been engaged with battles with unseen forces. It is said that it is easier to fight what you can see then fight what you cannot see. The battle fields are different, and the battle weapons are different, but the battle plan of the enemy has always been the same. Separate the followers from their king. Plant disbelief in the minds and hearts of followers, remove the lines of communication between warriors and the king, dull their weaponry, claim false victories, and the best tactic of the enemy is infiltration with false prophets and priests as Balaam. BUT . . . . the battle is God’s. Victory has already been declared. The word ‘victory‘ is very interesting for in the Old Testament there are 6 verses with the word ‘victory,’ and there are 6 verses in the New Testament with the word ‘victory.’ Remember that the number six is related to mankind. Don’t you find this interesting?

Side Note: Victory in the Old Testament. 

And the victory that day was [turned] into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day how the king was grieved for his son. (2^nd Samuel 19:2)

He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil. (2^nd Samuel 23:10)

But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and  the LORD wrought a great victory. (2^nd Samuel 23:12)

Thine, O LORD, [is] the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all [that is] in the heaven and in the earth [is thine]; thine [is] the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. (1^st Chronicles 29:11)

O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. (Psalm 98:1)

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken [it]. (Isaiah 25:8)

Side Note: Victory in the New Testament

A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. (Matthew 12:20)

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. (1st Corinthians 15:54)

O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory? (1st Corinthians 15:55)

But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1st Corinthians 15:57)

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith. (1st John 5:4)

And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, [and] over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. (Revelation 15:2)  ♦  End of Side Note.

   Whether Old Testament or New Testament . . . . victory is assured. The only way that man can be victorious is through God, and through His holy arm (His right hand) who is the Christ (the anointed One), Jesus Christ. Victory is ours because God through His Christ, the Lord Jesus, has given us the victory. But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1st Corinthians 15:57) O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. (Psalm 98:1)

   There are only two times in the Bible that the words ‘shout‘ and ‘king‘ is used in the same verse. Once in Numbers 23:21, and the shout of a king is among them, and in Zechariah 9:9, Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he [is] just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. I am full of interesting points today . . . . because this combination of ‘shout‘ and ‘king‘ refers to the entrance of the Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem bringing salvation to His people. The number two is the number of witness, thus, Numbers 23:21, and Zechariah 9:9 witnesses to us of a coming event when Israel’s King will come into Jerusalem with a shout as documented in the gospel of Matthew Chapter 21, the gospel of Mark Chapter 11, and in the gospel of John Chapter 12. And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt. (John 12:14, 15) The last phrase confirms the prophetic message in this verse, and the shout of a king is among them.

Side Note: Why was Christ’s entrance into Jerusalem riding on an ass’s colt not mentioned in the gospel of Luke ? Remember: Matthew is the gospel of the King, or of the kingdom; Mark is the gospel of the servant, John is the gospel of the Son of God, and Luke is the gospel of the Son of man. (This is an extremely simple breakdown of the gospels.) This bold entrance of the Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem riding on an ass’s colt was His presentation of Himself as King, the Son of God, sent by God as a servant of God to the people of God. The work and ministry of the Son of man had no direct relationship to how Christ presented Himself to a waiting nation looking for their King. ♦ End of Side Note.

   How can this section of Balaam’s parable be summarized to draw out God’s message? The unsaved and the saved are in need of the same message. It is a two-sided message of the word ‘fear‘ sharpened by the sword God. We have traveled from God’s Sovereignty to God’s mercy and forgiveness onward to the King of king and Lord of lords to victory, and to the shout of the King, all in the second parable of Balaam. So how do we get the message of ‘fear‘ to the unbeliever and to the believer? How does the second parable of Balaam relate to our time period, not just a period of time, but a time of great fear that the peoples of the nations are experiencing at THIS time . . . . September 23, 2021? Whether you are believers and possessors of God and His Christ, Jesus the Christ, or you are not believers . . . . YOU FEAR the wrong thing!

Side Note: Fear — the plandemic. (The spelling of plandemic is not a typo.) There are many parts to the plandemic: control the facts, remove the facts, replace the facts, change the facts; control the fact givers, remove the fact givers, and replace the fact givers. Change the danger point. Keep the masses confused with many false solutions. Remove true and safe solutions from being used. Weaken the people physically, socially and mentally. Break down all forms of unification. Disunited people cannot unit to fight! The target goal is to weaken, disunite, distract and control.

   You fear death because of the PLANdemic. You fear your government. You fear other governments. You fear unseen death floating in the air all around you. You fear the unknown. You fear life itself. How has fear come in? Why has fear come in? YOU fear the wrong thing! But because fear has become a major part of your life it may have drawn you to seek answers to questions that you have always been to uncaring to ask. Consequently, fear may have become a good thing.

   Why are you so afraid? Are you afraid to die or are you afraid to live? ALL MEN DIE! Why are you so afraid? Are you afraid that death is the end of life? Life as you know it . . . . YES, that ends! But, there is LIFE eternal, there is another life . . . . a life not of this world, nor of this earth. The human race consists of two parts: spiritual and natural. The earthly natural part is DEFINITELY GOING TO DIE! But what happens to the spiritual part is conditioned on one thing . . . .

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (John 11:25) And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (John 11:26)

Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: (1^st Corinthians 15:36)

And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: (1^st Corinthians 15:37)

But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.  (1^st Corinthians 15:38)

All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. (1^st Corinthians 15:39)

There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.  (1^st Corinthians 15:40)

There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. (1^st Corinthians 15:41)

So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: (1^st Corinthians 15:42)

It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: (1^st Corinthians 15:43)

It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. (1^st Corinthians 15:44)

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.  (1^st Corinthians 15:45)

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.  (1^st Corinthians 15:46)

The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. (1^st Corinthians 15:47)

As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. (1^st Corinthians 15:48)

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. (1^st Corinthians 15:49) ♦ End of Side Note

   And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.(John 12:14, 15) This verse is about the King of Israel coming to save His nation . . . . therefore, Fear not. The battle shout of the King is heard. The shout of the King victorious is among them. and the shout of a king is among them. As Israel was not to fear because their King was coming, so also, Christians should not fear because their King is coming. The King is coming, the King of the Jews is coming, the King of Israel is coming, the King of saints is coming, the King Eternal of all ages is coming, the King of Righteousness and Peace is coming, the King of heaven is coming, the King of glory is coming, the King over all the earth is coming, the King of nations is coming, and My King and My God is coming. What are you afraid of, Oh Christian?

Say to them [that are] of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come [with] vengeance, [even] God [with] a recompence; he will come and save you.  (Isaiah 35:4)

Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.  (John 12:15)

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:  (Revelation 1:17)

God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. (Numbers 23:22)

   What have we learned so far in Balaam’s second parable about the LORD <Y@hovah> God <‘elohiym> ? God is Sovereign over His creation. God is merciful and forgiving to His people. God is King of kings and Lord of lords. God is victorious in battle, and God will come with a shout as King Eternal over all the earth.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he [is] just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. (Zechariah 9:9)

Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great [is] the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.  (Isaiah 12:6)

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  (1^st Thessalonians 4:16) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (1^st Thessalonians 4:17) Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (1^st Thessalonians 4:18)

   Wouldn’t you admit that there hasn’t been too much in this second parable of Balaam so far? (I josh!) It’s not over yet. There is still much to learn about our Lord and our God. In Numbers 23:22 we are once more reminded that we have a Supernatural God — God brought them out of Egypt.

   Sometimes Christians lose sight of the Supernatural Divine Nature of God. There is a well-known saying, ‘Familiarity breeds contempt.’ How about this not so well known saying that, ‘Lack of familiarity breeds nonsense.’ (I just made that up!) Not enough time in the Bible breeds nonsense, in other words, no time spent in the Bible produces no sense at all. Consequently, God becomes whatever mankind wants Him to be. The human race loves the pretend idea of ‘supernatural’ as long as ‘the supernatural’ can be viewed as a comic book character with a magic cape, or spidery attachments, or rubber legs, or combustible eyes. All of this nonsense doesn’t aid anyone in knowing the truth about our Supernatural divine God. Just because insanity is now considered a desirable trait, do not allow the followers of confusion to mix their world of spiritual fantasies into the true spiritual realm of God.

   God is Spirit, God is Holy, and God is Righteous . . . . and since His first creation of the human race fell from their first estate, (the estate is not a place, but it is a position of obedience) the natural man is neither holy, nor righteous, and thus, the spiritual nature of man no longer rules over man, and man is ruled by his sin nature. Why do I even have to write these things at this point in this article? I find it necessary to point out that The God of the Supernatural is outside of all of man’s reference points. Whenever we view God as Supernatural we have to remove ourselves from what we have made up about a supernatural world, and depend entirely on His Supernatural book that we call the Bible. (So put away your little fairies, your fallen angels, your tarot cards, your tea leaves, and that wispy whispering spirit angel that sits beside you as you drink your tea, and learn the truth and the reality of the real supernatural world of God.)    God brought them out of Egypt. If you are familiar with the origin of Moses, then I suggest that you DON’T skip over the suggested reading. That’s correct I said DON’T skip over the reading even if you are familiar with Moses because I want you to be MORE than just casually familiar. I want you to feel the Hand that moved behind the scenes. I want you to hear the Voice that spoke in each scene. I want you to see the divine Person (the great I AM, the Godhead bodily, and the Supreme Sovereign) in the forefront of every scene.

   God brought them out of Egypt after He took them into Egypt. This all did not begin in Exodus Chapter 2. His exodus plan for Israel began BEFORE In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) There are many ‘before‘s’ in Scripture. Let us look at the ‘before‘s in the New Testament.

And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel  in before he was conceivedthe womb. (Luke 2:21)

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. (John 8:58)

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. (John 17:24)

And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. (John 17:5)

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory: (1^st Corinthians 2:7)

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: (Ephesians 1:4)

Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, (2^nd Timothy 1:9)

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; (Titus 1:2)

But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: (1^st Peter 1:19) Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, (1^st Peter 1:20)

   What is supernatural IN these verses? The name of Christ had been predetermined before time began (Luke 2:21). Christ was/is the great I AM (John 8:58). The unity of God the Father and God the Son in love and in glory is revealed (John 17:24). God had ordained and decreed that His unseen wisdom (His Spirit) would be for the glory of His chosen ones (1^st Corinthians 2:7). His adopted sons were chosen to be IN Him; therefore, they would be holy and blameless because of His holiness and His blamelessness (Ephesians 1:4). Before the world began God had a purpose to save His chosen with a holy calling in grace (2^nd Timothy 1:9). Eternal life was promised by God before the world began, (before there was a need for eternal life), and before sin was brought into the world by Adam (Titus 1:2). Before the foundation of the world a redemptive plan was ordained through the pure spotless blood sacrifice of Christ (1^st Peter 1:20). These are a FEW of the supernatural acts of God BEFORE the world began.

   God brought them out of Egypt. How about some more evidence of God’s Supernatural dealings with Israel? God not only planted them in Egypt, but He planned it all: their forced migration into Egypt, their forced slavery to the Egyptians, and their exodus from Egypt. God planned it all BEFORE. The threat of starvation forced Jacob and his sons to appeal for Egypt for food. Their appeal was heard by none other than the son of Jacob, Joseph. The highest office in Egypt at that time (other than Pharaoh himself) was Joseph. Enough already, coincidence it ain’t. (Nonfiction is not without emotion because truth is emotional, fiction may describe truth, it even may explore truth, but it cannot touch the heart, soul and spirit of truth. The Word of God, the Bible, is truth, the truth about sin, brotherly betrayal, adulterous actions, and heinous acts of man against man and nature. The Bible, the truth, lays bare what beats and breathes in every human being: SIN. Yes, truth speaks broadly and deeper than fiction.) The supernatural God does not belong in the realm of fiction. From the first word to the last word in Scripture God is heard, seen, and felt.

   God the Holy Spirit enjoys details. In Genesis Chapter 15 God presents time in prophecy. Much as the book of Daniel gives us time in prophecy. The prophecy in Genesis 15:12 foretells of Abraham having a child (seed), and a nation (with land) would come from Abraham’s child. They would live among and work for strangers. Then they would become oppressed and enslaved. Four hundred years is set to be the time frame when Abraham’s seed would be enslaved by another land. All of this information in a few words, the Holy Spirit is concise and precise.

Side Note: Four Hundred Years and Four Hundred and Thirty Years. Which is correct? Was it 430 years or was it 400 years? Since the Holy Spirit of God is concise and precise in all that He writes through the pens of ready writers, why are there two different number sets for the same event? The following references reveal both numbers in the Old Testament and in the New Testament.

400 Years in the Old Testament:

And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. (Genesis 15:12) And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; (Genesis 15:13)

 400 Years in the New Testament:

And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat [them] evil four hundred years. (Acts 7:6) 

430 Years in the Old Testament: 

Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. (Exodus 12:40) And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:41)

430 Years in the New Testament:

And this I say, [that] the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. (Galatians 3:17)

Both numbers are correct. Follow along with me here: the 400 years are very specific to the affliction and suffering of Israel under the hand of the Egyptians . . . . and they shall afflict them four hundred years; . . . . and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat [them] evil four hundred years.

   The number of four hundred and thirty years (430) is an additional consideration. Thirty is associated with Joseph. The following references will aid us in understanding the number 430. The references are specific to different time frames. First, Joseph placed his family in the land of Goshen, a separate area (by separate I mean away from the activity centers) in Egypt with rich and fertile pastures for their cattle. (Cattle and shepherds were considered as an abomination to the Egyptians.) Secondly, Goshen became not only an area of refuge for Joseph’s family, but it became a prosperous location for their settlement. During Joseph’s time of authority over Egypt, second in power to Pharaoh, the people of Israel (although not yet a nation) were not slaves, nor were they treated harshly, but they were nourished by Joseph. This was not a time of slavery!

Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not: (Genesis 45:9)

And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children’s children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast: (Genesis 45:10)

And there will I nourish thee; for yet there are five years of famine; lest thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast, come to poverty. (Genesis 45:11)

And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him: (Genesis 46:6)

And the men [are] shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have. (Genesis 46:32)

That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, [and] also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd [is] an abomination unto the Egyptians. (Genesis 46:34)

Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they [are] in the land of Goshen. (Genesis 47:1)

The land of Egypt [is] before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest [any] men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle. (Genesis 47:6)

And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded. (Genesis 47:11) And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father’s household, with bread, according to their families. (Genesis 47:12)

   Then events changed. God the Holy Spirit does not spend time on why things changed, or how things changed because His thoughts are centered around Israel and not the history of Egypt. Egyptian history is not the main issue here . . . . a new king came into power over Egypt. Just the wording alone implies that this new tyrant was not of the lineage of the previous rulers; therefore, there may have been a revolution, or a time of war with another powerful nation. There is no time frame noted in Scripture, only the number 30. These specifically selected references were chosen to show that things changed drastically for the children of Israel. Read about a shift from peaceful coexistence with the Egyptians to a hard bitter bondage of slavery. After Joseph died THEN came slavery. It was AFTER Joseph died that the 400 years of Genesis 15:13 began. Joseph (the number 30) was the turning point from a peaceful and prosperous existence to slavery. The count down begins for our 400 years period . . . . AFTER the death of Joseph.

400 Years in the Old Testament:

Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. (Exodus 1:10)

Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.  (Exodus 1:11)

But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. (Exodus 1:12)

And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: (Exodus 1:13)

And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour. (Exodus 1:14)

   Notice that the 430 years are associated with Israel’s EXODUS from the land of Egypt. God alone keeps the exact count of days . . . . even the selfsame day it came to pass. Four hundred and thirty years to the EXACT day was counted off by our Supernatural God. In Galatians 3:17, God connects this with the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, and ties it together with the promise to Abraham.

430 Years in the Old Testament:

Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. (Exodus 12:40) And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:41)

430 Years in the New Testament:

   Why did I take up time and effort on the difference between the numbers 400 and 430? Remember that this all began with God brought them out of Egypt to show the supernatural power of God. God planned it all. He timed it all. He documented all of it. The lesson here in the numbers is that THERE IS NO difference between the numbers. The numbers show not one event, but different events. If you are going to lose sleep over 400 and 430 then I suggest you may have a problem within yourself. God the Holy Spirit IS NEVER WRONG! We are the ones who may have missed a step in our treasure map.

   Remember back a bit I wrote that Joseph (the number 30) was the turning point — this is why. There are only two times in the entire Bible where the name of Joseph comes together with the number thirty in the same verse.

   God, our Supernatural God, weaves a beautiful intricate detailed portrait with gold and silver threads to reveal the hidden glory of the Lord Jesus Christ in symbolic numbers. Joseph was thirty years old when he was introduced to the land of Egypt as the sovereign authority over Egypt by the decree of the king. And Joseph [was] thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt. (Genesis 41:46) Compare this event with the supernatural presentation of the Lord Jesus Christ unveiled to the nation of Israel as the Son of God in Luke 3:22, and 23. And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. (Luke 3:22) And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was [the son] of Heli, (Luke 3:23)

   Why was Joseph’s age recorded at this particular time? Why was Christ unveiled at the age 30? The age of service of ALL who ministered in the tabernacle of the congregation began at the age of thirty. Joseph and the Lord Jesus began their work and service WITH AUTHORITY at the age of thirty fulfilling God’s decree of approved ministry in Numbers 4:35, From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation: (Numbers 4:35)

   I would say that this was/is ALL supernatural! Of course, there is much more about how God brought them out of Egypt. It is because of the vastness of the supernatural acts of God in His bringing His people out of Egypt that  I have chosen  a narrow time frame of reference not often dealt with when teaching about Joseph, Israel and the exodus from Egypt. ♦ End of Side Note.

. . . . . . . . .. ; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. (Numbers 23:22.

   The Holy Spirit of God (through the corrupt evil mouth of Balaam) describes the strength of God as that of a unicorn. This is one of the many times that proves that man did not write any portion of Scripture, for man would have chosen any animal in the animal kingdom, but definitely NOT a unicorn. Don’t you know that mankind has declared that scientifically unicorn‘s have never existed, and that they have been proven to be mythical animals? NOT! (Science, so-called, cannot even prove what is really science anymore, nor can so-called science prove that only women can have babies, or that humans cannot self transform themselves into another form of human. Science, so-called, has lost the respect that they may have had because of lust for recognition, for lust of money grants, and political pay-off approvals.) (Science, so-called, has sadly become a joke and a target for ridicule.) Prove that no animals ever became extinct because many species did not leave evidence of their existence. Why do we then have lists of endangered species? I just want you to consider the arrogant thinking that unicorns are mythical creatures.  Show me the PROOF that unicorns were/are mythical. I’m sticking with the Bible, and what the word of God says about unicorns.

   The word unicorn implies an animal with one horn, so therefore it can really mean ANY animal who has one horn. NOT! Sorry, but I am sticking with a unicorn is a unicorn is a unicorn. Let’s see what the Bible has about unicorns. First of all, the word means ‘to rise and to be lifted up.’ The word ‘unicorn‘ is mentioned six times in the Old Testament, and the plural of ‘unicorn‘ is mentioned three times for a total of nine times. It is not mentioned in the New Testament. Very interesting number associations here. This is new and fresh territory for me, so therefore, let’s tread slowly to learn what the Holy Spirit of God has for us.

   The very first mention of the word ‘unicorn‘ is in our study section of the second parable of Balaam in Numbers 23:22. It is tied to God brought them out of Egypt, thus, the phrase he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn is a description of the supernatural power of God. I think that we should keep this point of the supernatural power of God to ‘rise and to be lifted up’ in our minds as we venture forward into this new territory. (It’s new for me, but maybe it’s not new for you.)

  Let us carefully read the six references of ‘unicorn‘ to learn more about our supernatural God.

The First and Second Reference to Unicorn

God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. (Numbers 23:22)

God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce [them] through with his arrows. (Numbers 24:8)

   Numbers 24:8 adds more to the understanding of our supernatural God, He is strong to judge, and He is strong in judgment; nations (his enemies) will be consumed and broken by His supernatural judgments. Their very structural foundation will be broken by His supernatural judgments. God has many arrows, many means, in His quiver of judgment. The unicorn’s strength is as a wild animal stamping out and stripping away the enemy’s strengths. (Isn’t it strange that whenever anyone mentions ‘unicorns‘ immediately the image of a gentle creature draped with flowing ribbons, and bright flowers come to mind . . . . Hmm . . . . hmm.)

The Third and Fourth Reference to Unicorn

Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? (Job 39:9) Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee? (Job 39:10)

   This is a picture of a creature that cannot be domesticated, neither can it be controlled, nor enslaved to serve the needs of its owner. The unicorn (in type) shows that our supernatural God is Sovereign, Supreme, above the machinations of His crafty creatures. God, our supernatural God, is not at our beck n’ call, nor can He be stroked as a favorite pet, or tied around necks as a glistening molded piece of gold to be rubbed to sooth ruffled fantasies. Our supernatural God is ABOVE all of man’s imaginations. God is not a man.

The Fifth Reference to Unicorn

He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. (Psalm 29:6)

   This verse follows, of course, verse 5 which supplies the object of the word ‘them‘ in verse 26. The word ‘them‘ refers to ‘the cedars of Lebanon.’ (Let us not tarry here, but move on to verse 6. Psalm 29 is the Psalm of the voice of the LORD. This phrase ‘the voice of the LORD‘ is documented seven (7) times. Yes, that is important. (Again, this Psalm is for your further reading.)

<<A Psalm of David.>> Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength. (Psalm 29:1)

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. (Psalm 29:2)

The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. (Psalm 29:3)

The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. (Psalm 29:4)

The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. (Psalm 29:5)

He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.  (Psalm 29:6)

The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire. (Psalm 29:7)

The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. (Psalm 29:8)

The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory. (Psalm 29:9)

The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. (Psalm 29:10) 

The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. (Psalm 29:11)

  He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. (Psalm 29:6)　The majestic and powerful voice of the LORD can break even the strongest cedar trees, (Psalm 29:5) and He can also make them skip in joy as a young calf. In this we see judgment on one hand, and delight and rejoicing on the other hand.

Side Note: Two Locations connected to unicorn. Also notice in our study verse of Psalm 29:6 that two places are mentioned in connection to a young unicorn: Lebanon and Sirion. This is the only place in Scripture that these two places are mentioned together. Why? First, Sirion is Mount Hermon. (Which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the Amorites call it Shenir;) (Deuteronomy 3:9) Lebanon was noted for its rich forests. Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants [shall be] with thy servants, (2^nd Chronicles 2:8) The valley of Lebanon extended to the mountain range of Mount Hermon, the highest elevation in the most northern part of Israel located in the Golan Heights. The head streams of the river Jordan begin from Mount Hermon. Historically the ancient beginning of Israel is connected to the northern part of Israel when Abram and his family first temporarily settled before entering into the land of the promise. This northern area was also mentioned by Moses in his plea to God to allow him to see the land of the promise. I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon. (Deuteronomy 3:25)

   Lebanon supplied Israel with cedar per king Solomon’s request for the construction of the Temple in Jerusalem. (1 Kings Chapter 6 and 7) ([Now] Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee. (1^st Kings 9:11) Twenty cities in exchange for building materials was quite a payment.

   The very first mention of cedar wood is in the book of Leviticus. It is primarily associated with the law of the leper in the day of cleansing. (Leviticus Chapter 14) (Again, I must continue on, and not become distracted from the point at hand.)

Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn — In Lebanon we have the thought of what applies to the senses in the smell of a fertile and fruitful forest: an odorous richness. Beyond the sense of smell, we have the beauty of sight in the spectrum of redness: richness in color. Then beyond the senses we have structural strength of the trees of Lebanon. Doors were not the only things that were made from fir wood. And the two doors [were of] fir tree: the two leaves of the one door [were] folding, and the two leaves of the other door [were] folding. (1^st Kings 6:34) These doors did not only represent strength, but fir wood is highly waterproof, and it is one of the most durable construction woods. As the doors of the Temple, built by Solomon, HAD to be perfectly suitable for structural strength and durability because all of the Temple HAD to perfectly represent the oneness of God in His perfection.

   The Tabernacle in the wilderness was constructed with Christ as its architectural pattern. So also, the Temple in Jerusalem was built to reveal God’s Christ in design, in beauty, in strength, in durability, and organically. In the book of Song of Songs, the book of love, we have a lovely description of our house IN Christ Jesus, our Lord. The beams of our house [are] cedar, [and] our rafters of fir. (Song of Songs 1:17)

Side Note of a Side Note: The Pattern: CHRIST.

According to all that I shew thee, [after] the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make [it]. (Exodus 25:9)

And look that thou make [them] after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount. (Exodus 25:40)

Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat, (1^st Chronicles 28:11)

And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things: (1^st Chronicles 28:12)

And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot of the cherubims, that spread out [their wings], and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD.(1^st Chronicles 28:18) All [this, said David], the LORD made me understand in writing by [his] hand upon me, [even] all the works of this pattern. (1^st Chronicles 28:19)

Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, [that] thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. (Hebrews 8:5)

Side Note Continued: Two Locations connected to unicorn. Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn — In Sirion, Mount Hermon, the Lord unfolds the waters of life, the head stream of the river Jordan, that flows into and through His nation, Israel, finally plunging into the Dead Sea, or the Sea of Salt. However, at its beginning, like a young unicorn, Hermon (Sirion) is clean, pure, fresh water springing forth from the top of the highest peak. (Does not this remind you spiritually of someone? For such an high priest became us, [who is] holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; (Hebrews 7:26)  ♦ End of Side Note

   He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. (Psalm 29:6) We have not come to the end of learning more about a unicorn. Let’s attempt to summarize why the Holy Spirit of God used this particular word ‘unicorn.‘ Some say that this was a rhinoceros, an antelope, or a wild bull, others say it is entirely mythical. Let’s look at this from another point of observation. The Holy Spirit does not lack a vocabulary. He knows the difference between a rhinoceros, an antelope, and a wild bull,  BUT . . . . He chose a particular word . . . . a word that describes a one horned animal to reveal different facets of the Godhead bodily. (Bear with me here, if you are still with me then you definitely have a penchant for frustration.)

   This creature has no other description except for having ONE horn. There are no physical relics that we can definitely identify as a unicorn. Mythical is the word that the world associates with the unicorn. The world also has added childish elements to their imagination, for example, bright happy colors, sweeping ribbons, and a stuffed party animal favored by the young. (I’m leading you somewhere!) Is this not similar to how the world views God? To the majority of the ungodly, God is mythical. He is considered to be the epitome of a type of Santa Claus. He is non judgmental, and His gospel is a ‘feel good’ gospel. Their ‘god unicorn’ is the perfect symbol to represent their vain, shallow, meaningless, and empty minds.

   The Holy Spirit of God deliberately chose ‘unicorn‘ to describe the Godhead. GOD IS SPIRIT(unseen). God is One. One horn . . . . one salvation . . . . one Lord and Savior. As the Godhead is unique, so in symbolism is the unicorn. As the power of Godhead is One, so in symbolism is the unicorn.

   Unlike the unicorn of imaginations, God reveals Himself (through the placement of the word ‘unicorn‘ in Scripture). Let us examine the sixth and last mention of unicorn, and maybe the Spirit of God will allow us to understand more of the divine nature of our supernatural God.

The Sixth and Last Mention of Unicorn

But my horn shalt thou exalt like [the horn of] an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. (Psalm 92:10)

   This sixth and last mention of unicorn comes in Psalm 92; therefore, in order to get a true sense of the context, read Psalm 92. As you read, select the main points concerning God’s divine supernatural nature, and the previous connections in this article. Also notice that it is a Psalm or Song set for the day of Sabbath, or the day of rest, or the day of God’s rest.

SIDE NOTE: Sabbath: the day of God’s rest.

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. (Genesis 2:1) And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. (Genesis 2:2) And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. (Genesis 2:3)

Being humans, and being obsessed with ourselves and OUR world, we too often do not look at things from God’s point of view. The seventh day was a time when God could delight and take joy in HIS accomplishments. He blessed this seventh day, and He sanctified this seventh day in that He separated this particular day (or time period) from all periods of time. Truly, God said in the seventh day, It is finished.

<<A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day.>> It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: (Psalm 92:1) 

To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, (Psalm 92:2)

Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. (Psalm 92:3)

For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. (Psalm 92:4)

O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. (Psalm 92:5)

A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. (Psalm 92:6)

When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: (Psalm 92:7)

But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. (Psalm 92:8)

For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. (Psalm 92:9)

But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. (Psalm 92:10)

Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. (Psalm 92:11)

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. (Psalm 92:12)

Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. (Psalm 92:13)

They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; (Psalm 92:14)

To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. (Psalm 92:15) This is truly a Song of exaltation. A Psalm of praise and worship to the loving kindness and faithfulness of God the Creator. Three times the works of God is praised: For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. (Psalm 92:4) O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. (Psalm 92:5) Does this not take us back to the very beginning of the 2^nd parable of Balaam.— God is not a man — ♦ End of Side Note.

  If you have not yet come to the conclusion that this unicorn symbolizes the Godhead bodily in Jesus Christ, then let us proceed further in Scripture. The horn in Scripture is another long entwined tapestry thread. The word horn is mentioned nine (9) times in the book of Psalms. (Nine is the number of conclusion or termination — THE END.)

Side Note: The Number Nine. Nine is the square of three, and three is the number of Divine perfections, and it is a number peculiar to the Holy Spirit. Interestingly, there are 27 books in the New Testament — God glorified in His perfection (3³) through His perfectly accomplished written word to mankind — it is finished — through His perfectly accomplished sacrifice by His Living Word, Christ — it is finished. Another interesting point is that the Lord said these words of ‘it is finished’ in the 9th hour while He was on the cross. (Matthew 27:45-50, compare to Mark 15: 34-37, compare to Luke 23: 44- 46, and compare to John 19: 30). Through the number 9 God instructs us of His completion, the finality of His work. (This is, of course, not the total revealing of the number 9 in Scripture.) In Genesis Chapter 1 through this number nine (9) we see the conclusion of the matter. God simply states ‘after his kind’ is the fixity of species, nothing to add in the physical realm of creation for kind produces after its own kind. The principle is set at the very beginning of God’s teaching that kind produces after its own kind — said and done — the conclusion of the matter — the number 9. ♦ End of Side Note.

   The word horn is also mentioned twelve (12) times in the prophecies of the book of Daniel in Chapters 7 and 8. In the number 12 we see God’s promises to His nation Israel fulfilled. Governmental perfection is realized in the number 12, or we could say, organizational perfection. But the last mention of horn is found in the gospel of the book of Luke in the prayer of Zacharias (the father of John the Baptist) while he prayed during the ninth hour: the hour of prayer. (Luke 1:10; Acts 3:1)

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, (Luke 1:68) And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; (Luke 1:69)

In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the LORD. (Ezekiel 29:21)

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.  (Psalm 18:2)

   The Lord Jesus Christ IS our HORN of salvation. The Godhead bodily is our HORN of salvation. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. (Colossians 2:9)And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: (Colossians 2:10)

For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;  (Colossians 1:19)

In 2^nd Samuel 22:3 we read, The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. (Psalm 59:16) Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy. (Psalm 59:17)

   There is still more about — But my horn shalt thou exalt like [the horn of] an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. The last phrase is yet another thread from this tapestry of God’s power, sovereignty, and uniqueness — I shall be anointed with fresh oil. How does this phrase connect to the Lord Jesus Christ? Firstly, the words fresh oil is mentioned only twice (2). Two is the number of witness. The first mention of fresh oil is found in the book of Numbers Chapter 11. 

And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium. (Numbers 11:7) And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil. (Numbers 11:8)

   The bread from heaven (manna) was as the taste of fresh oil. The second and last mention of fresh oil is, of course, the last mention of unicorn. But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.(Psalm 92:10)

   The Lord Jesus connects Himself to the manna of Numbers Chapter 11 as the Bread of Life (in the sixth (6) Chapter of the gospel of John) for all of mankind. (Note the number 6 is the number of man.)

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. (John 6:29)

They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? (John 6:30)

Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. (John 6:31)

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. (John 6:32)

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. (John 6:33)

Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. (John 6:34)

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. (John 6:35)

   Then the Lord again repeats that the Bread of Life, as the manna, was their bread of life in the wilderness. Here is the second part of His witness of Himself as the Bread (the Manna) sent from heaven.

I am that bread of life. (John 6:48)

Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.  (John 6:49)

This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.  (John 6:50)

I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.  (John 6:51)

   I shall be anointed with fresh oil — also connects to the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us begin by distinguishing between two different ways to anoint in the Old Testament. Samuel anointed Saul with a vial of oil, not with a horn of oil.

Side Note: Vial of Oil versus Horn of Oil.

Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?  (1^st Samuel 10:1)

   Vials are associated with the wrath of God. (There is a lot more in the placement of the word vials, but for this article I just want to concentrate on the fundamental connection of vials to the wrath of God.) The words vial and/or vials occur in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ twelve times all connected to judgment.

And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever. (Revelation 15:7)

And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.  (Revelation 16:1)

   King David and his son, king Solomon, were both anointed with oil from a horn.

And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons. (1^st Samuel 16:1)

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.  (1^st Samuel 16:13)

And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon. (1^st Kings 1:39) ♦ End of Side Note.

Side Note:  Anointing. There are 12 references to anointing in the Old Testament specific to priests and kings. There are references to 5 priests and 7 kings being anointed. Twelve (12) being the number of governmental perfection in God’s program. One of the interesting things about anointing is that Saul was the 6^th individual anointed. (Six is the number of man.) David was the 7^th individual who was anointed (beginning with Aaron). (Seven is the number of God’s perfection in accomplishment and in all of His actions: the perfection of deity.) Saul was the king selected by the people, and God allowed it to be so to show that man is not capable of discernment. But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. (1^st Samuel 8:6) And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. (1^st Samuel 8:7) Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; (1^st Samuel 8:19) David was the man after God’s own heart. I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: (Psalm 89:20) One more notable fact: David was anointed three times. ♦ End of Side Note.

Chapter VIII

The Lampstand

   The lampstand (candlestick) had the buds, flowers and fruit of an almond tree. It is necessary for us to refer back to Aaron’s rod that budded documented in Numbers 17:8, And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. This rod was a type of resurrection, and for all practical purposes it was a dead and lifeless rod. But Moses, by faith, laying it up before God witnessed that this rod brought forth bud, blossom, and fruit. Life from death, or we might say, resurrection power; this prefigures the resurrection power of the Lord Jesus Christ. The branches of the lampstand, three on each side, went forth from ‘buds’ on the main shaft, then the branch developed ‘flower’ and ‘fruit,’ much like the believer in Christ. Notice that the ‘bud’ was the source of life, and as the shaft, the Lord is the source of our life. Christ is the first begotten from the dead, in Him we have life from death. We are freed from the bondage of death, (Hebrews 2) because we have died in Him; thus, He imparts newness of life, and this life is resurrection power. Think of the sign which the tailor hangs out in front of his establishment, ‘We dye to live.’ It appears to be a paradox, yet, there are many paradoxes in the Christian faith. We, as the branches, are in eternal union with Him — no one can separate us from the love of God. (Romans 8) The lampstand was made from ‘beaten gold’ as the mercy seat within the veil. This beaten gold expresses the sufferings of Christ for us. “Surely, he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4,5)

   We, as Christians, are joined to the sufferings of Christ in this manner: “He was rejected of men,” and Christians who are real, suffer persecution, rejection, and tribulation in this life. Yet, we have an enduring indwelling peace because we are joined to the impeccable Christ. This is the confidence that we have in Him, “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.“ (1 Thessalonians 5:24) These seven lights, although they are one lampstand, and one light, are one and yet separate. The purpose of these seven lights is to reveal Christ in their midst.

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, (Ephesians 4:1)

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; (Ephesians 4:2)

Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:3)

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;  (Ephesians 4:4)

One Lord, one faith, one baptism, (Ephesians 4:5)

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (Ephesians 4:6)

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. (Ephesians 4:7)

   Did you notice that there are seven “one’s” in this passage of Ephesians, just as the candlestick has seven lights? We, again, have the unity of the believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and we can clearly see this expressed as a wonderful type in the candlestick in the holy place in the tabernacle.

   Also, the light speaks of the Holy Spirit. According to John 14, the Comforter (who is the Spirit of God) was sent by the lord to ‘reveal’ all truth pertaining to the glory of the Son of God. So also, the candlestick illuminated the sanctuary, and showed all the glory of the articles therein, which reflected the glory of Jesus Christ. The illuminating power of the Spirit of God reveals unto us unity, communion, faith, hope, resurrection, and all the heavenly glories of Christ Jesus. The oil expresses the Spirit of God. The oil in the lamps provided the power, the source, and the energy for the light, yet it was dispensed through the small wick. Here in the small wick we have the believer showing light into the world as he is filled with the Holy Spirit of God. Thus, it is in His energies that the believer is burned, or allows himself to be consumed for God’s glory testifying for the Lord Jesus Christ.

   This oil also speaks of the anointing power of the divine Spirit of God. We have this (in type) with the anointing of Aaron, and his sons, with the anointing of King David, and the anointing of the Lord. Christ was anointed at the Jordan so that God’s Son should be manifested to men. In like manner, the church received the anointing of the Holy Spirit of God, once and for all, on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2. The wick is engulfed by the oil as we are engulfed in the Spirit, enabling us to make our lives and our way, and our conversation in Him.

  The believer is consumed for the glory of Christ, yet, abiding in the oil of the Spirit — never perishing because of eternal life. God is all to him, and he is all to God; so that we (who believe) might worship Him in Spirit and in truth.

1. The believer is part of the stem  — Christ in Him, and Christ in God.

2. The believer is part of the branch — unity in the one body, the church of His Spirit.

3. The believer is part of the gold — speaking of God’s righteousness.

4. The believer is part of the oil — the indwelling and manifestation of the Holy Spirit of God.

5. The believer is part of the light — manifested into the world concerning the testimony of God’s Christ.

6. The believer is part in resurrection with Christ — speaking typically of the almond tree.  

7. The believer is part of the perfection of God in Christ — we see this in the 7 lamps, the 7 buds, the 7 flowers, and the 7 almonds. God declares His perfect number 7, and Jesus Christ is His perfect Son.

   This sixth and last mention of unicorn unveils more about God, His Son Jesus Christ, and the God the Holy Spirit. But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. There is the horn of strength and power exalted as the unique unicorn; there is the uniqueness of anointing with the horn, and there is the uniqueness of fresh unblemished, novel, unprecedented anointing oil. The voice of the Godhead in strength, and power is seen in the horn, the voice of uniqueness and manifestation of the supernatural power of the anointed one of God, the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ is seen in the unicorn, and the voice of the Holy Spirit of God is heard in the fresh oil flowing not only through the lampstand in the Tabernacle, but as a new channel of the Spirit of Christ dwelling within His own.

Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought! (Numbers 23:23)

   Although Balaam (the minister of Satan) uttered these profound words by the Spirit of God, it had to be a grim reminder to him that God’s power and strength was/is greater then ALL of His adversaries. Man cannot fight against God and win.

And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: (Daniel 4:34)

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? (Daniel 4:35)

But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.  (Psalm 115:3)

Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain. (Numbers 23:24)

   The second parable of Balaam closes with the symbolism of a lion: a great lion, and a young lion. This great and young lion will not rest until he has consumed his prey, and has swallowed up the blood of the slain. At first glance, this may appear to some as vicious, vengeful and overly bloodthirsty. Let us, therefore, take this reference verse to understand what this conveyed not only to Balaam, who spoke them, and to Balak (who sought to eat his prey, Israel, and to drink their blood) but to all who read Numbers 23:24. Let us look at the first phrase . . . . Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion. The people, of course, are Israelites. Prophetically speaking, the people (as a collective national unit) will become greatly elevated in power, and as a resting lion who slowly rises and stretches himself preparing to outrun, and out-power his target . . . . through experience fearlessly anticipates the challenge ahead . . . . this is why he is a great lion . . . . strong, fearless, smart and cautious. Although the Spirit of God used the typology of lion to describe the many enemies of Israel, and even Satan is described (by the Holy Spirit of God) as a roaring lion, nevertheless, in type the lion also was/is used to describe the God’s strength in power. Let us read first of God’s enemies as roaring lions in the following reference verses. There are only four references in the entire Bible with the phrase roaring lion.

They gaped upon me [with] their mouths, [as] a ravening and a roaring lion. (Psalm 22:13) This is taken from Psalm 22 which is a prophecy and a depiction of the crucifixion of the Anointed One, the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.

[As ] a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; [so is] a wicked ruler over the poor people. (Proverbs 28:15)

[There is] a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof. (Ezekiel 22:25)

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as  a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1^st Peter 5:8)

   The following reference verses describe the strength and deadly power of the tribe of Judah (the kingly line of the Lord Jesus Christ) and the Lord of hosts, and in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ in Revelation 5:5 (double grace) we see the Lion of the tribe of Juda, and the Root of David opening the book and unloosing the seven seals of judgment upon the earth.

Judah [is] a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? (Genesis 49:9)

He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed [is] he that blesseth thee, and cursed [is] he that curseth thee. (Numbers 24:9)

A lion [which is] strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any; (Proverbs 30:30)

For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, [he] will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof. (Isaiah 31:4)

And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. (Revelation 5:5)

   Yes, the Lion is the Root of David, He is the One who sites on the throne, He is the One who opens the book sealed with seven seals, He is the One who is the Lamb, He is the One who is worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.

And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. (Revelation 5:1)

And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? (Revelation 5:2)

And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. (Revelation 5:3)

And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. (Revelation 5:4)

And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.  (Revelation 5:5)

And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.  (Revelation 5:6)　

And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.  (Revelation 5:7)

And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.  (Revelation 5:8)

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;  (Revelation 5:9)　

   This is who Balak and Balaam were warring against. Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain. (Numbers 23:24) The 2^nd parable of Balaam ends with this prophetic statement of a people (a nation) that will rise to great heights as a people set apart to worship, and to serve Jehovah, the Almighty God.

And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.  (Exodus 19:6)

For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.  (Deuteronomy 7:6)

For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth. (Deuteronomy 14:2)

And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken. (Deuteronomy 26:19)

He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD.  (Psalm 148:14)

  This is who Balak, Balaam, and all God haters, and God deniers believe that they can overcome. This is who Balak and Balaam were warring against. Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain. (Numbers 23:24) The 2^nd parable of Balaam ends with this prophetic statement of not only a people (a nation) that will rise to great heights, but then we also have the words himself, and he . . . . this is not a people, but an individual, a being, a divine Being, a supernatural Being who will not rest until it is finished. God’s redemptive plan in the divine sacrifice of His Son on the cross of Calvary was completed there . . . . and the battle was won . . . . BUT there is still much more in God’s determinate counsels yet to come . . . . he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain. God haters, and God deniers as Balak and Balaam cannot fight against God, for their end is sure. This 2^nd parable of Balaam unveils God’s power, strength, and uniqueness in supernatural attributes. As Balaam’s first statement in this 2^nd parable began with God is not a man . . . . the entire parable (written by the Holy Spirit of God) through the mouth of a corrupt priest and prophet is the proof that even corruptness cannot stop the message of the voice of God. God is not a man. God’s power and God’s strength (as a unicorn) is beyond all earthly understanding. He, who is Light, is beyond our comprehension. He, who is Life, is outside of our natural realm. God is not a man. When Balaam spoke these words . . . . he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain, he knew what his end would be. Balaam was not delusional. The message in the 2^nd parable of Balaam was not, and is not, only for believers and followers of God, but it is for all  the Balaams and Balaks, in the history of mankind, in their conflict with against a Supernatural God. God’s message is clear — the natural man cannot fight against God.
