The True Realm of the Supernatural
Part 1
What is the meaning of the word supernatural? According to the dictionary it is as follows: ‘Of or relating to existence outside the natural world./ Attributed to a power that seems to violate or go beyond natural laws: miraculous./ Of or relating to a deity.’ Our age is flooded with thoughts of the supernatural. The imaginations of the curious, and the need to find something else beyond themselves, and to fill the void within leads the natural man to seek something . . . anything; thus, leading to the ridiculous, and to acts of stupidity, and to be drawn to the influence and evil manipulations of charlatans, script writers and merchandising profiteers. Look anywhere, everywhere . . . except where the true realm of the supernatural actually is explained and experienced.
The Only True Realm of the Supernatural
The only true realm of the supernatural is found in only one book — it is called — The Bible. The Bible is a supernatural book written by a supernatural Being, about a supernatural Being and delivered, maintained and preserved by a supernatural Being. Why cannot God write a book? Why cannot God preserve a book? What better way to communicate to man through the ages then by words in a book. God is the supreme communicator. The giver of words, the designer of alphabet, the former of sounds — God not only is the Great Communicator, but He also supplied the means by which He communicates to man.
The Word of God
God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ is called The Word of God (Revelation 19:13). Christ has many names, and many titles, but it is as ‘The Word’ that we are first introduced to Him in the Gospel of John. The book of the symbol of the eagle, the heavens.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
The same was in the beginning with God. (John 1:2)
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3)
1 — 2 — 3
In the very first verse we see that: 1 In the beginning was the Word; 2 and the Word was with God, and 3, and the Word was God. In the beginning, the beginning of time and space (Genesis 1:1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. In the beginning God’s action was to provide a realm for man, a perfect dimension, and a perfect atmosphere in which His creation of mankind could live and be able to communicate with their Creator. Communication and inter-action between God and His creation is paramount in His grand plan.
Next we have and the Word was with God, a relationship of unity and unity in purpose. United together as One in love, suffering, compassion, Holiness and Righteousness. I (Jesus speaking) and [my] Father are one. (John 10:30) Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3)
And 3 and the Word was God. Now God reveals to us a foundational understanding of what and who He is. God is not only the Great Communicator, but that He desires to communicate at all with His creatures is mind bending.
In the second verse we see that: The same was in the beginning with God. A supernatural Being with no end and no beginning. A supernatural Being who lives in eternity. A supernatural Being beyond our limitations and our boundaries.
In the third verse we see that: All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. Here is a description of our Creator. The Word created the world, the Word made everything that is, the Word made/created all things that ever was. Let us read further in the Gospel of John about our supernatural Creator, called the Word of God.
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. (John 1:10)
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
Why? How? Who?
The Why of Why the Word?
The different aspects of God is revealed through His various names. He is ‘elohiym, He is the Almighty God, He is Jehovah, He is Jah, He is El-Shaddai, He is el, He is Adonai, and we could go on and on, but let us stop at The Word. No human mind would or could ever conceive of such as description for God as — The Word. It denotes much more than mere communication. Within this little word is a depth of meaning: there is sound, writing, expression, understanding, knowledge, comprehension and revelation.
Words express action. Words are not passive. Within words we have the understanding of time in the structure of tenses: the past, present, and future. Words become bridges spanning over the history of man, and much more, from culture to culture. Within words we have much more than syllables, we have sounds, we have the seen and the unseen. All these things and more are in The Word; how truly fitting and supernatural that God the Father chose to call His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, The Word of God. In the Word we have the written word, the Bible, and the Living Word, Christ Jesus. He is active, He is not passive, He encompasses time and non-time, that is eternity. He reaches to all men throughout all cultures, He is both the seen and the unseen. Can anyone actually believe that the Bible is anything except God’s Word to mankind? What does the Almighty God reveal to us about Himself through the manifestation of Himself as God the Son?
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1:3)
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2 Corinthians 4:4)
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: (Colossians 1:15)
These verses have been pulled out of context but are united in revelation. Read these verses within its placement within each chapter. They all speak of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is Christ who is the express image of God, it is Christ who is the image of God, and it is Christ who is the image of the invisible God. Can this be a revelation of the supernatural? Existence outside the natural world, a power beyond all natural laws, a miracle, a revelation of Deity — if you are interested in the supernatural, is this not it?
The How of How the Word?
How does The Word reveal God to man? God speaks through His written word, the Bible, but God’s desire was (before the foundation of the world) to speak to man as a personal, caring Creator in holiness and righteousness. God through the witness of two has given us the written Word, and the Living Word. How much God wanted you to know Him that He sent His Son as the Living Word to draw you to Himself. The Word alive and living among men, known as Emmanuel. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (Matthew 1:23) Here is the how! God became man. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,. Is this not a supernatural event — a supernatural concept? Only God would have deemed it necessary to come to earth to live among His creatures. Only a supernatural God could have accomplished this expression of His Word. From God to man and always remaining God.
The Who of Who the Word?
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. (John 17:24)
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, (1 Peter 1:20)
God’s great plan, His master plan, His blueprint for mankind was conceived and executed before what we can only term as time and space, and time in space. God was there, the Word was there by the determinate counsel of the Godhead; all the fullness of God was there in a place that the mind of man cannot reach, nor the heart of man can appreciate or have any fellowship with.
Before the beginning, before time, before space, before the supernatural energy of God’s supernatural light drove through the darkness, a supernatural God was there — here — and being created beings limited and confined by our own time and space we cannot understand omniscience, omnipresence, and the omnipotence of a supernatural Being. We may have definitions for these three supernatural states of being, but truly understand and comprehend . . . I think not! This is the God who humbled Himself and became man. This is the God-man, Jesus Christ whose birth, life and death was supernaturally announced, proclaimed, prophesied, and fulfilled since the very beginning of our creation. The Lord Jesus Christ said this of Himself. And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. (John 8:23)
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. (John 18:36)
Let us look into the last book of the word of God, and get a very quick glimpse of the Why, How, and Who.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. (Revelation 19:11)
His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. (Revelation 19:12)
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (Revelation 19:13)
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (Revelation 19:14)
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (Revelation 19:15)
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. (Revelation 19:16)
